Later in the story it comes out that Palmer has been a consistent affair partner since the FMC and OM started dating four years prior. I’m not saying some women out there aren’t some mean bitches irl to other women but why can’t these books just have women supporting women? I didn't like that he actually went through kissing someone else and getting her to unzip his trousers.

Honestly this is such a personal gripe I know and I’m sure this worked for some, but I couldn’t stand it at all. Avery and Finn are perfect for each other and such strong characters individually that they have a really fun dynamic to read.

Every woman the FMC interacted with was somehow fat shaming her, trying to steal the MMC from her, or treating her like shit. Otherwise I liked the twists and turns I definitely thought Nora was going to be more pyscho but honestly I'm not sure the story needed it once we got the best friend drama which worked so well. She’s got a lot going for her - a good job, a long term boyfriend… then in the blink of an eye everything changes. Finn may give Avery the courage she needs to take steps towards loving herself and be there for her when there are inevitable bumps in the road, but this is not a story of the MMC “saving” the FMC. I understand this book is about body positivity but seriously there was too much negativity that it got boring and samesy.

Not to mention these two are fucking in this rich guys house that’s shes house sitting for and they bone against the fish tank and Avery ends up killing one of the fishes. There are so many ups and downs that Avery and Finn go through but I think what made this the best was that obviously, Finn adores and worships her curves. And I don’t necessarily think how quickly things moved from strangers to friends to more was the most believable. What she didn’t expect is for his smoking hot neighbor to show up hoping to use the hot tub like he always does. I’ll go deeper into the areas that affected me negatively later, but first a bit more on the story for context.

But waaaaay out of her league hot, the kind of hot that someone like Avery believes she has no chance in hell with, is the kind of hot she can preemptively put in the friend zone.

Feeling like her lack of sex appeal and prowess may have been the catalyst for the downfall of the relationship (just another toxic lie from Mason), Avery comes up with a potential solution.Both characters are really nice and both of them are going through some past bad experiences but together are doing quite well to go over them. I had anticipated the plot twist, but swayed myself away from that line of thinking multiple times to the point where I still thought "wtf? For a scene like this to be only a few pages, not even the main “third-act breakup” reason, and to be fully and utterly resolved like nothing happened in the end? Avery and Finn decide they can help each other out – Finn will explore sex with Avery and show her ways to love herself, both through a man’s/romantic partner’s view, as well as the view she holds for herself, and Avery can use her business acumen to revive Finn’s floundering livelihood. Finn walks in and finds them and Avery, in her mind-boggled desperation to be what Finn wants, or what she thinks he wants (PLEASE JUST COMMUNICATE), tries to start a threesome.
