Whilst Bug-Eyes is perhaps the comically disappointing son of Leif, Thorfinn gets the fatherly advice from Leif, who tells him he has a great man that would make his own old man proud. As Thorfinn hears these words, he sees visions and his father Thors and Askeladd alongside Lief, showing how all three men impacted Thorfinn in huge ways. I think as a reader that consistently reads many books, comics, manga or whatever, it is easy to dismiss the thoughts of the writer and just critique their works throwing some random rating to summarize a book's worth, but I found it insulting to the writer and better to me for my enjoyment as a reader is to accept a writer's thoughts/experiences and what they want to convey. Askeladd tells Thorfinn to guard Canute and tortures a captured English captain, seeking information. He is interrupted to be told that Thorkell is approaching. Fearing defeat, some of his men decide to desert and attempt to join Thorkell, who kills them when they arrive. Askeladd reaches the shallow upper Severn River and cuts down a short bridge. I do continue to really enjoy the amazing illustration and the amount of time Yukimura spends delving into the history of the story. Just saw two seasons of anime from this manga and at least the first one was not so far from being amazing. The manga has the same great art as the anime version and the only difference that I`ve found here is that it starts with another scene and timeline than the anime. The characters are very well made and believable in their motivations, every one of them with a interesting and complex story arc. The whole picture of the story is more complex and well made than expected, with a bigger scope on events than you could think of at a first glance, with a lot of surprises at hand.

The series' final arc, which is set in Vinland, prominently features the Mi'kmaq people. The depictions of Mi'kmaq characters and culture were made with the guidance of Beverly Jedore and Yolanda Denny of the educational organization Miꞌkmaw Kinaꞌmatnewey. The use of the Miꞌkmaq language was done with the assistance of Bernie Francis, a linguist and scholar who helped make the Francis-Smith orthography, the officially accepted orthography of the Mi'kmaq Grand Council.
