However, I thought, stuff it, I’m treating myself and after several days of looking & reading, weighing up the pros & cons of several makes & types, I finally settled on the Avalon 10×42 Pro HD Platinums. Outstanding for the price. Accurately described and very competent in use (spectacle wearer). Unexpectedly good in low light conditions. A positive boon is the attached lens covers. A small but incredibly useful feature. Second Test – England vs Aussies at Lords – clutching my new Avalon 10×42 Pro Platinum. I was amazed how much light these binoculars actually let in. The image was stunning. Still couldn’t follow Jofra Archers deliveries though… seriously – I couldn’t recommend the 10×42’s highly enough! Ideal for general or home viewing, scenery, bird watching, travel, sports, nature, wildlife, safari, star gazing and the outdoors.

My wife and I share a pair of the Avalon 8×32 which are excellent for birdwatching. It was time to buy my own pair so I opted for the more powerful 10×42 Avalon. These are still light and small enough for everyday use but I appreciate the extra power if the lens. These are excellent binoculars and I would highly recommend them for birdwatching and general use including occasional star gazing. They are great for looking at the moon. Really decent binoculars for the price. Like a lot of Ornithologists I always went for names like Kowa and Opticron. Both made in Japan. Avalon have all the accessories you expect to find on more pricey binoculars. I like the soft feel, the thumb grips, the attached lens caps ( which can be replaced if lost) and really good quality carrying strap. My only gripe is the centre focus wheel has too much travel before you get sharp images of woodland birds. Time you get it in focus it usually has flown off! Would like to know more about the company and where they are made etc. I am convinced in the near future Avalon will be as widely known as Leica or Zeiss. Nothing wrong the monocular I just had difficulty in closing my left eye to hold focus. Requested and awaiting return instructions View this product → Bought as a present for my wife and am extremely impressed with them, my wife thinks they are the best thing ever….. Close Focus– The minimum focus distance is exceptional, which like the FOV adds to the versatility of these opticsAccessories: As always with Swarovski binoculars, the level of the accessories and their innovative features like the connectors on the strap is outstanding Good binoculars and very prompt delivery. However, the rubber covers on the lenses keep getting in the way, if they swivelled 180 then might be better. Small issue but might need to disconnect them. View this product →

The optical image is bright and sharp – which is clearly the key starting point. I tested them against my Tasco 10×50 Porro Prism binos (admittedly now 20 years old but in excellent condition) and these are brighter despite the smaller objective lens. They are light weight and reasonably compact, given the image quality and magnification. The attached objective lens caps work well. The eye piece caps a little less so for me, as I use a tripod adaptor for carrying, rather than a strap (which the cap is designed to hang off). The materials make it very grippy, which will be good in adverse weather. The focus adjustment requires quite a bit of turn to go from close distance to far, but the plus side is it offers excellent fine-tuning focus adjustment. I did not measure if the 3m minimum focus distance is completely accurate, but I can confirm that it does focus quite close (especially compared to my 10×50). Bino Harness / Case: Not only do you get a bino harness included, but it is also one of the best bino harnesses I have ever used and not some cheap afterthought She was pleased with the light weight, the versatility and the many features of these binoculars. She was so pleased with them that my husband is now considering a pair for himself. I live in Anchorage, Alaska. And even though it is the biggest city in Alaska (pop. ~300,000), we still do not have the plethora of choices like a bigger city.Very happy with the Avalons, clear and wide view, solid but very lightweight. My aim is to use them for spotting wildlife and detail on long views around the Lake district. We are fascinated by nature. We love the excitement of observing a spectacular moment, crystal clear and in perfect detail.

Bought for birding: garden and wildlife trusts. Light to carry, fit nicely in the hand and in the small tote bag. Good quality image, clearly superior to cheaper binoculars already owned, sharp and not muddy. Good size image too.I LOVE these binocs!! I actually bought them as a gift for my husband and I loved them so much that I kept them for myself, he’ll get something else. They are not too heavy, and easy to use and my eyelashes never get in the way. They are such great quality. Now that my husband has seen them, he likes them better than his binocs too. Only minor downside is a damaged case, but Procular are sourcing a replacement and will be sending this to me shortly. Fabulous. Bought these for my son ( aged 38) for Christmas as he has started getting interested in wildlife. He’s been enjoying them so much over the last couple of days, even just watching birds in the garden. Me too, I’ve had several sessions with them and I think they’re easy to use, sharp, and such a good size. Many thanks View this product → Excellent binoculars, great for bird watching in the garden.
