In Chapter Five, it is revealed that she is actually Alphabittle's long lost daughter. It is also revealed that Misty used to enjoy painting and singing in public however her years of isolation and treatment by Opaline have given her anti-social behavior as she’s now scared to sing in public and doesn’t remember painting at all. In Sunny Side Up, Hitch opens the brand new Canterlove studio, but nopony is interested in it. So Pipp suggests a cooking show “Sunny Side Up” with Sunny and Hitch, despite Hitch’s stage fright. He stumbles over his words, clumsily navigates the stage and even gets into a food fight with Sunny, which the viewers really like. Later, Sunny pulls Hitch aside and offers a apology for not taking his nervousness into consideration and failing to encourage him to be himself. Hitch forgives her and admits that he thoroughly enjoyed the show and might have got over stage fright because of it. Together, they decide to the genuine “Sunny Side Up”. As a parent, Hitch is shown to be relentlessly overprotective with Sparky. He keeps his baby dragon on a strict schedule and rules and is always running after him to make sure he is always safe or is not being mischievous, like taking things that are not is or use his fire magic. Nevertheless, Hitch loves taking care of Sparky and play with him. Despite his overprotective attitude, he is willing to let others take care of him whenever he wants time for himself, as long they follow the schedule and rules he had settled. However, he can let his parental instincts take over his entire behavior whenever he feels Sparky is in danger. After the little dragon goes missing, Hitch becomes progressively obsessed in finding Sparky that he went full vigilante. After Sparky disappears on a second time, Hitch is showed to be more in control. Despite still freaking out about it, he can now control his parental instincts better so he doesn't lose control. In Under the Mistytoe, which is set near the end of My Little Pony: Winter Wishday, Misty sneaks into the Crystal Brighthouse to kidnap Sparky while the Mane 5 are asleep, but she accidentally kidnaps Cloudpuff instead. In The Isle of Scaly, Misty attends Dragon Lands along with her friends and helps Izzy and Pipp repair the Mare Stream without success. She is later taken to Maretime Bay on the dragons. She is scared of Opaline when she snaps at her and calls her insults such as 'nothing' and 'useless'. Misty has some cunning attributes, like being able to infiltrate Maretime Bay multiple times; and even lured Pipp and Zipp into a huge cave and trapped them there (of only temporarily). But Misty seems to be happier when in the presence of Sunny and her friends, but with being around the evil pony, she appears very nervous and quiet. Now walking in Bridlewood, Izzy excitedly points out every crystal she encounters. The other ponies notice that Izzy is unusually upbeat in comparison to the other, much sadder unicorns. After Hitch uses the word "magic" and causes the other ponies to perform their "Bing Bong" ritual, Izzy explains that Unicorns are very superstitious and have a set of forbidden words (magic, wing, feather, mayonnaise). Upon hearing these words, they must perform a ritual to ward off jinxies. Izzy leads the ponies to the Crystal Tea Room in search of a crystal-collector. After Misty has a change of heart and frees them, Zipp and Hitch sneaks into Opaline’s room and save Sparky. In the end, Zipp and the others lend their cutie mark magic to Sunny, allowing her to overcome Opaline.

Before magic returned, she spent her free time practicing her athletic skills in the mountains, emulating the feeling of flying. This greatly helps her flying abilities when magic is restored. She has taken up detective hobbies near-fulltime since the Make Your Mark special. Despite Pipp is a great admirer of everything that is pretty and elegant, she also possesses a taste for more sinister things, a side that perfectly balances the one she shows to everypony else. One example is her love for scary and gloomy things, like ghosts. Her love for ghosts is so big she can't resist to come up with haunting stories regarding abandoned places like the now closed Canterlogic factory. Zipp even mentioned that Pipp was able to convince their mom that an entire wing of the castle was being haunted by royal ghosts. After it was revealed that the factory was not haunted, she got really disappointed. This side was also showed when Pipp was showed to admire Opaline's taste regarding her castle's decor. Now with Sunny, Izzy, and Zipp, he runs with them into a Zephyr Heights alleyway where he is hugged by a flying rat. Sunny asks why he's there, and he explains that he's both arresting and saving her. He and Zipp share a bit of banter as he learns that she is the princess.
