And I understand that as Imogen is a sex blogger, sex has to be a vital part of her story and personality, however, I think there were times when the theme was used a little too much, getting out of place in the story and even overshadowing previous events. For me, one of the best elements of the book is portraying plural women with diverse dreams, experiences, and characteristics, showing how the corporate world can affect us at any given moment of our journey. These cookies help provide information on metrics the number of visitors, bounce rate, traffic source, etc. It is not all so perfect, however, as the prose reads like a Netflix original series plagued with cringe phrases and POV switches that allowed little depth to be added to the story or its characters - that, may I add, were easy to root for despite this, as a woman who understands the pressures faced. If anything, I felt this one tried to cover *too* many important millennial topics to its detriment?

Daisy really shows both sides of the story so well- especially with the comparison of Louise, another young woman working with Imogen whose biggest concern is her dad no longer paying her extortionate rent if she doesn’t make something of herself. The book does a great job at singing a huge spotlight on the Grinding culture and the things that Women must sacrifice to be “Successful” It shows the pressure that is put on them as well to land their dream job and, in some cases, the hard work leads that dream job to turn into the thing that is running you into the ground. I believe that the impact of the protagonists' professional life dilemmas on their mental health could be explored in an even deeper way, with more detailed descriptions of their feelings. Hilarious and unflinchingly honest, Careering takes a hard look at the often toxic relationship working women have with their dream jobs.Apparently the dozens of unpaid internships where she was treated badly were what "made" her who she is today. Mix The Bold Type with Bridget Jones, make our main protagonist a good six years younger, and you’ll end up with something close to Careering. From laughing out loud multiple times, to really feeling the points that she was making, I was thoroughly invested and enjoyed Careering from start to finish. The 103 third parties who use cookies on this service do so for their purposes of displaying and measuring personalized ads, generating audience insights, and developing and improving products. However when the meeting finally comes, Harri realises she is being pushed out and being given the task of running "The Know", a brand new online magazine.

Oh how much did I love this book - so insightful, so relatable and it just happens to combine two of my favourite things, reading and magazines (not that I ever have time to read them anymore with that out of control TBR but hey 🤷‍♀️). The _ga cookie, installed by Google Analytics, calculates visitor, session and campaign data and also keeps track of site usage for the site's analytics report. What I especially loved was the insight into how much wealth and privilege can decide who gets that ‘dream job’ or not. A love story about work, self-worth and modern womanhood, Careering is, quite simply, the funniest novel I've read all year. Will she wake up to the way she’s being exploited before her protege realises that not everything is copy? This is such a warm and witty look at the toxic relationship we can have with our jobs, at whatever stage of our careers we find ourselves. This novel should be a must-read for everybody who has ever thought life will be better once their work rewards them.
