The quandary that a few good fake answers can leave the guesser in is a lot of fun for all around the table. One player will draw a card from the pile, making sure to pull from the side that shows the question only so they cannot see the answer. Red Herrings' have to make up something convincing on the spot, and they get points if they go undetected. However, the True Blue Kipper must give the answer shown on the back of the question card while making it sounds thoroughly unbelievable. The fish are again randomly dealt out face down and the new Guesser starts out with the next card in the card holder.

You’ll need to think on your feet, get creative and push your luck to win the game where everyone has an answer for you. Sounds Fishy isn't about always knowing the right answer — it's about being able to spot the fake ones. So if you have the Blue Kipper, you want to give the correct answer in such a way that the Guesser thinks it might be fake. Pick up points by eliminating the fake answers that have been invented by the other players — but be careful! When you open the shiny box you will see the game includes some pretty nice components for a party game.The red herring players will receive 1 point for every flipped fish on the table if their fish remains unflipped.

But, in this beautifully recycled box, is all the contents needed to create a lot of laughter and entertainment. And we much prefer making up crazy answers to these trivia types of questions than obscure word definitions.

If a red herring is revealed the guesser gains a point and can continue to try to find more red herrings or stop if they wish to do so and retain the points. Depending on whether you’ve been distributed a red herring, or a blue fish (it’s never made clear why blue fish are more inherently trustworthy over say, a rainbow fish, but we move with the choices made), you either provide a false but convincing answer, or you read the actual answer from the back of the card. Keeping players off your scent as a True Blue Kipper is an equally usual challenge; be too obvious and the jig is up, losing you the advantage.

It generally went over pretty well but sometimes they got a little too stressed trying to come up with a “good” fake clue. The other players then have 15 seconds to come up with an answer which they then tell the guesser one at a time. One player, having been designated question master, will know the question but not the answer, and will be charged with sorting the fact from fiction. Accessible, breezy, and with a gorgeous design holding it all together, this is a good way to warm up the party or a games night.Some people may find the process of coming up with believable answers in a short amount of time a little tricky, or even stressful. Each player will secretly look at their fish and see if they have a Red fish (Red Herring) or a Blue fish (Blue Kipper).
