Series 1 (2009) [ edit ] Being Human cast (from left to right, Lenora Crichlow, Aidan Turner, Russell Tovey) and the series creator, Toby Whithouse Kyle Schmid as Henry Durham, a vampire created by Aidan during World War I who reappears in present day, 80 years after Suren's incident helping the orphan vampires. Aidan refers to Henry as his "son". During the influenza epidemic, Henry finds and compels a woman who never had the virus to be his girlfriend, feeding from her and keeping her sealed in a house they share. When Aidan frees her as he feels it is wrong to keep her trapped, Henry struggles to keep his composure and only seek the blood of non-carriers, only to give in, leading to his eventual death at the influenza's effect on vampires. Staying Alive is a magnificent anthology. The last time I was so excited, engaged and enthralled by a collection of poems was when I first encountered The Rattle Bag. I can’t think of any other anthology that casts its net so widely, or one that has introduced me to so many vivid and memorable poems’– Philip Pullman The game placed a significantly larger emphasis on narrative when compared with its predecessor. The team approached Chris Avellone to help write the game's story which is reactive to players' choices. The team felt that they had developed an open city, but they wanted the narrative to share the same level of agency. [2] The game was described as a "narrative sandbox" in which every choice has "genuine" consequences according to Avellone. [12] After players make certain choices, the game space will change. The game's story features a more serious tone when compared with the first game. To make the world feel believable and authentic, the team took inspiration from real-world issues and political ideologies and had to drop gameplay ideas that were deemed too unrealistic. [13] Ciszewski added that in each playthrough, players will "lose at least 25 percent of the content". [2] Staying Human is the latest addition to Bloodaxe's Staying Alive series of world poetry anthologies which have introduced many thousands of new readers to contemporary poetry. This fourth volume in the series offers poetry lovers an even broader, international selection of 500 more ‘real poems for unreal times’.

If Aiden goes to save Lawan, he takes her out of X13. However, Aiden fails to stop the missile strike, which destroys Villedor and kills a majority of the population. Aiden then leaves the city due to his infection, continuing his journey as a Pilgrim. Depending on the player's choices during the game, Hakon may leave the city with him. Staying Alive

It’s been 20 years since the events of the original game. The virus won, and humanity is slowly dying. You play as Aiden Caldwell, a wandering Pilgrim who delivers goods, brings news, and connects the few remaining survivor settlements in barren lands devastated by the zombie virus. However, your true goal is to find your little sister Mia, who you left behind as a kid to escape Dr. Waltz's torturous experiments. Haunted by the past, you eventually make the decision to confront it when you learn that Mia may still be alive in Villedor — the last city standing on Earth. Ausiello, Michael (June 28, 2010). Mark Pellegrino as James Bishop (season 1; guest, seasons 2–4). Born in England, Bishop became a vampire during the 15th century and turned Aidan into a vampire. In the present day, he is a member of the Boston Police Department. After Aidan kills him, he appears within Aidan's thoughts as an aspect of his psyche. The word ‘anthologia’ is Greek for a collection of flowers or beautiful things - thus we have the delight of poetry anthologies, perfect for Christmas presents. Neil Astley’s serious and inspiring Staying Human follows the deserved success of Staying Alive, Being Alive and Being Human - all invigorating, essential collections.' - Bel Mooney, Daily Mail, Christmas Books 2020 The central premise of Being Human is that various types of supernatural beings exist alongside human beings, with varying degrees of menace; that three of these supernatural beings are opting to live amongst human beings rather than apart from them; and that these three characters are attempting (as much as is possible) to live ordinary human lives despite the pressures and dangers of their situations. They are constantly threatened with exposure or persecution, with pressure from other supernatural creatures, and with problems caused by their attempts to deal with their own natures. The first 13-episode season roughly follows the narrative arc of season one of the British original; [9] [10] however, the British version was only six episodes, so the North American program developed new stories and arcs to fill out the story line enough for 13 episodes. [9] [10] Some similar elements were also developed in a different manner; Carver said, "We explore these moments and what the characters experienced in the British version and say to the writers, 'What if we do this differently?" [10] However, elements of the directorial style of the first two episodes followed the original pilot and first regular episode of the UK series, in some cases shot-for-shot. There’s a strong focus on the human side of living in the 21st century in poems from the past two decades relating to migration, oppression, alienation and the individual’s struggle to hold on, stay connected and find meaning in an increasingly polarised world. Staying Human also draws on poems suggested by readers because they’ve been so important in their own lives, as well as many poems which have gone viral after being shared on social media because they speak to our times with such great immediacy. The third series was filmed and set in Barry (Barry Island). The new house is located on Canon Street. Some filming took place in Hensol Woods near Cowbridge, Vale of Glamorgan, in July 2010. [26] The move to Barry Island and Wales was prompted by the BBC's "Out of London" project, which sought to move productions away from London and to new production facilities in Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales. Toby Whithouse is an English actor, stand-up comedian and screenwriter. His highest-profile work has been the creation of the BBC Three supernatural television series Being Human. He also appeared in the film version Bridget Jones Diary in 2001 as Alistair. For me, the attraction of Staying Human– just like the other anthologies in the Staying Alive series - is that it contains poems that are open in their meaning, that sometimes wear their heart on their sleeve, that don’t aim to be obscure… Staying Human would make a wonderful Christmas present for someone you love.’– Greg Freeman, Write Out LoudJesse Rath as Robbie Malik, Sally's younger brother.
