Better suited for spring or fall, I get compliments from family and friends when I wear it in slightly cooler weather, rainy days, or ‘perfect temperature’ weather…the watermelon is much more prominent and juicy…it’s fresh and fruity sweet, slightly musky, uplifting, joyful and uncomplicated, an elevated, more sensual version of a VS body spray. If you like L'Imperatrice 3 and are seeking an easy reach perfume with better longevity - you may want to try Coach Floral Blush.

When I first bought this fragrance in 2009, the SA told me it was unisex, so I wore it all the time even if for a guy it smelled too girly. I don’t understand the low ratings, if anything this is my favorite perfume out of all 300 perfumes I have. The sweetness and delicacy of its fruity-floral notes form a striking contrast with the strength of the L’Imperatrice muse, highlighting her irresistible confidence and force of character.it smelled like the garnier shampoo at first but it dries down to a fruity aquatic scent that reminds me of the afternoon when youre on holiday, after you showered coming back from the beach if that makes sense. When I sprayed this in Nordstrom back when it released, I didn't see the appeal (the musk made it feel too 'grown' for my young sensibilities).

For fragrance pairings, Ariana Grande Sweet Like Candy and Mugler Aura EDP have made beautiful bases for L'Imperatrice. This is the only fruity floral fragrance that has ever gone the route of rank body odor on me; hence, I cannot wear it, but I love it on others. It doesn't really change too much on my skin, but I can detect some cyclament quite feintly in the background which is a nice touch and breaks up the fruity fiesta. It is just a shame that the longevity is not much better than a body splash (1-2 hrs if I overspray it). This scent has been a rollercoaster for me - so if you can try it more than once and give yourself time to decide, it might end up on your shelf! Very tart and juicy strawberries and kiwis - perfect for freshening up or as a spritzer out of the shower. Really liking this fragrance, it's a great everyday, summery perfume, especially after a shower or a bath. Smells clean and fresh, like you just got out of the shower, which really, is all that you might want on hot days spent outdoors. The beauty of this is definitely in the dry down and how it smells better on clothes than on your skin here you can smell a sweet musk.As for the other notes, I think perhaps people are smelling the grapefruit and strawberry and mistaking it for something else? L'Imeratrice=The Empress) was the only one I had doubts about whether I could pull off or not, even though they are ALL supposed to be unisex scents, this one screams more femme to me, and if I wore it would surely get some "girlyman" looks from people. This is a Really AWESOME after this starts to dry down a bit (the beginning of this is just a little bit sharp, but give it about 15-20 minutes and then it is just GORGEOUS)! ETA: if you like this but want more unisex spiciness, I think Moschino's Gold Fresh Couture is related.
