On the inside, Oppo has wisely let Dynaudio have free rein – and let’s not imagine this isn’t a bit of a coup for Oppo. Dynaudio has a pretty much impeccable reputation in Hi-Fi circles, and it seems a bit weird that the Danish specialist hasn’t already delivered a pair of headphones or two under its own steam. Endurance test data is based on OPPO laboratory tests conducted at 50% volume. Charging times are based on measurements taken at 25 degrees Celsius in OPPO’s laboratories using the standard OPPO charger. Specific endurance and charging performance will vary based on actual conditions. A significant proportion of buds now favour the use of silicone tips, which seal off your ear canals and secure the buds in your ears far better. They also have the advantage of providing improved passive noise cancellation. Manufacturers typically provide a range of different-sized tips to help ensure you get the most comfortable and stable fit possible.

The earphones are IP54 dust and water resistant, but the charging case is not. Avoid using the earphones and charging case during strenuous exercise to prevent damage from perspiration. The Oppo Enco Free also pauses whatever content is being played when one of the buds is holstered. This works perfectly, but resuming the media has a slight amount of delay which can be annoying. In the mobile era, there’s no time for worrying when or where you ’ll be able to take a call. OPPO’s advanced dual microphone beam-forming technology and AI uplink noise cancellation work together to shield your calls from outside noise, so your voice can be heard clearly in any environment. Intuitive controls, right at your fingertips.

Earbud Functions on the Bluetooth® interface of their phone to customize the earphones. Android 6.0+ users According to OPPO Laboratory, OPPO Enco X2's noise cancellation chip is 50% more powerful than the Enco X's.

The charging time and battery life were tested in OPPO Laboratory at a temperature of 25°C using a standard OPPO charger. The actual results may differ slightly based on environmental factors and the charger used. Battery life: Earbuds will always have a stated battery life, as will the case used to charge them. Between 15 and 20 hours of total listening time is around average, though your mileage will vary depending on the volume at which you play your audio. Having advanced features such as ANC active will also drain your battery faster. They do omit a couple of helpful features – active noise cancellation and control customisation – but access to an impactful graphic equaliser in the Sony Headphones Connect companion app allows you to tune audio to your tastes, which is very welcome. The WF-C500 will also prove a popular choice for those who aren’t fans of touch controls, as they use depressible buttons that take away any guesswork from controlling them. In terms of getting audio information on board in the first place, the Enco X use the newfangled Bluetooth 5.2 standard. Codec support runs to SBC, AAC and the extremely niche LHDC. LHDC is good news for owners of some Oppo smartphones, though, while the rest of us can relax in the knowledge that Bluetooth 5.2 is more than capable of dealing with our Hi-Res Audio files from the likes of Tidal Masters. Support for Bluetooth Low Latency is also included, so synchronicity between audio and video should be guaranteed. Other models will be supported after an OTA update (excludes A series, F series, Reno4 Z, Reno4 Pro, Reno2 Z,It’s amazing what the best wireless earbuds are capable of thanks to advancements in Bluetooth, noise-cancelling, microphone and audio driver technology. writing this review after 1.3 year of usage (I had to change the ear-tip in the photo), To be clear I had never used TWS before this, so take my review accordingly... As far as control goes, the Enco X are rather an odd proposition. For instance, there’s no voice control – which is a feature any number of rivals offer as a matter of course. There are touch controls on each earbud, and they prove receptive and responsive - but functionality is limited to ‘volume up/down’, ‘skip forwards/answer or end call’ and cycling through the available levels of active noise-cancelling (‘off/on/maximum/transparency’). We wouldn’t recommend these for gaming, as there was discernible output lag, which can be pretty expensive in certain games. For instances where the sound delay doesn’t make much of a difference, the no-cable nature is highly appreciated — Having no cables coming out of the phones and affecting the grip.
