Penelope Vincenzi (née Hannaford; 10 April 1939 – 25 February 2018) was a British novelist, who wrote 17 novels and 2 collections of stories. [1] Her sales by 2014 amounted to over 7 million copies. [2] Early life [ edit ] She met her future husband Paul Robert Vincenzi, an advertising executive, the son of Dr Julius Vincenzi of Earls Colne, Essex, when she was 19. [2] [4] They married on 27 May 1960, and had four daughters. [2] [4] [5] He died from a brain tumour in 2009. [2]

Celia Lytton is the strong-willed and beautiful daughter of some wealthy aristocrats and she has grown accustomed of getting her own way. She moves through life making some tough and often dangerous choices that affect herself as well as others. Into Temptation” is the third novel in the “Spoils of Time” series and was released in the year 2002. The second world war’s ended, peace has been declared yet the ravages still remain and the Lytton family has to face the future and themselves. In this book, Bard Channing is a rich businessman who broke into the property business early on in his career, building up his business with partners so that he has a pretty vast empire by the time the book starts. Francesca is his third wife and mother of two of his children, although he has older children from previous marriages. Bard is rough around the edges and is not anyone's ideal father, although Francesca loves him and is willing to forgive him many of his ill temperaments. It was the fashion world that provided material for Vincenzi’s novels, which featured indomitable women fighting men in the boardroom to rescue glamorous businesses from the brink of collapse and, in the process, falling in love. She liked to create strong heroines because she envied their courage and could not imagine herself dominating a boardroom. Instead, according to friends and colleagues, Vincenzi won support through professionalism and the personal interest she took in the lives of those with whom she worked, whether they were the head of the company or an office assistant.

One of the other characters in the book, Graydon Townsend, a journalist who begins investigating Bard in the hopes of getting a big story, was probably my favorite character. His own life is torn apart and he develops as a character as he investigates Bard. Windfall is highly recommended it is ‘unputdownable’, it is many way a guilty pleasure, with many late nights included. Penny started her career as a junior secretary for Vogue magazine in the year 1962, and went on to work for Tatler, The Daily Mirror, and later as a Fashion and Beauty Editor on magazines like Woman’s Own, Honey, and Nova. After working for a year with The Daily Mirror, was working under Marjorie Proops, the women’s editor, who knowing about her journalistic ambitions, allowed her to aid in small tasks and research. Then she became a Deputy Editor of Options and Contributing Editor of Cosmopolitan. Spellbound by these evocative and intimate stories, we watch while fate takes its course and the far-reaching effects of this crash while it ripples through hundreds of people’s lives.Woman do not graduate 👨‍🎓 from medical 🏥 school in 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 England during the 1920s and they certainly do not out perform their male partners.

Vincenzi’s agent, Clare Alexander, said: “Her special gift as a novelist was her love for her characters, and that came from her deep interest in not only the people in her imagination, but also in pretty well everyone she ever met. In 1962, she started to work for the Daily Mirror as a secretary, and after a year was working for the women's editor Marjorie Proops, who knowing of her journalistic ambitions, let her help with research and small tasks. [5] [6] The Best of Times” is a stand alone novel and was released in the year 2009. The actions of a single person can drastically affect many people in just the blink of an eye. In a joint statement, her four daughters Polly Harding, Sophie Cornish, Emily Gunnis and Claudia Vincenzi paid tribute. “A true trailblazer, her ambition matched her talent, enabling her to break down barriers and show others behind her – especially her daughters – what it was possible to achieve, professionally and personally. In her later years she met many challenges with her health, but was adamant to remain, in her own words, ‘cheerful and positive, someone the grandchildren remembered as happy and fun to be around.’ She always said she wanted to die at her typewriter. Only last week she was still galloping through her new novel, so she fulfilled her ambitions to the last,” the statement read. Clio has fulfilled her ambition of becoming a doctor, only to find herself trapped in a marriage to an arrogant surgeon who belittles her and her professional achievements. Martha is a highly paid corporate lawyer, just embarking on a political career. Dedicated to her job, she has had little time for personal relationships and lives a busy, but lonely life. She had such a generous gift of friendship, quite blind to whether someone was the boss or just making her a cup of tea. And that is why so many people in publishing will be devastated by her loss. Throughout her life – which like everyone’s, had its own tragedies and pitfalls – Penny always looked for hope and joy and the best way forward, which is perhaps why her huge fan base crossed generations and never deserted her. I will miss her every day. She was a storyteller of such natural talent.” No Angel: This is a novel themed on sweeping saga of family politics, power, love story, and passion bound drama. Cecilia Lytton the beautiful and strong-willed girl of wealthy aristocrats moves through her life making some tough and dangerous decisions. These decisions not only affect her but also change her husband, Oliver, her children; Sylvia Miller whose life has been changed by intervention, as well as Oliver elder sister who is not all she claims to be; and Sebastian Brooke.

Gradually their privileged world darkens in rather unimaginable ways, however it isn’t only the twins whose lives have been irrevocably alter. Barty Miller, who was rescued out of the London slums when he was a baby by Celia Lytton, is ambitious, clever, and a complete contrast to these twins. She faces temptation of the most unexpected sort. The prologue to this meaty, complex family drama puts the central conflict up front and center: The wealthy, charismatic entrepeuner Isambard Channing is forced to ask his much younger third wife Francesca to provide an alibi for a particular night. If she will not, it is likely that Bard will be ruined and end up in jail. Into Temptation: This is the third installment of the Lytton Family Trilogy; the novel focuses on Barty Miller and New York City. Rescued from the London slums as a baby, but now living in New York, Miss Miller now head over half of the Lytton publishing house. Now facing numerous bad times, the family is in doubt that Barty Miller will make a bad business decision that would cause devastating effects. As time passes, events gradually unfold, while deeply buried family secrets are surfaced which causes quakes to the root foundations of the Lytton’s family. Rather than continuing her medical training, however Cassia marries Edward, a sub standard graduate. She for goes her training to become a wife and mother, while Edward, unqualified to practice in a hospital establishes a practice in their 🏠 home.
