While Ash has grown from his Winter Prince days, he also has that darkness within him that comes with being Unseelie that he seems to be tip-toeing the edge of the entire book. Long-time fans will know and see he's developed from The Iron Knight now that it's been years down the line, but newer readers who jump right into this series might feel a little differently. As much as I enjoyed getting into Ash's head again, I think I was slightly disappointed because there are plenty of times where Kagawa dips into darker elements and just... doesn't. While they are still good to me and have that same general feel to them that I remember from the original books, I'm not the same reader I suppose. I think it's such a fine line to walk when trying to recreate nostalgic magic with your original readers and alao stay within the same age group perimeters of the original story, it's now attempting to pander to two very different audiences and it can be really tough to do. I think I came in hoping for Cobra Kai. The Iron Sword didn’t exactly end on a cliffhanger. But damn if I’m not itching to read the next book asap. (I wonder whose POV we’ll get next? I’m thinking maybe Meghan or Nyx?)

A captivating tale of how old wounds run deep, love, heartbreak and overcoming your inner demons. I highly recommend’ NetGalley reviewerI don’t want to spoil the particulars of what Evenfall is, but I do think it works well within Kagawa’s established lore. I also liked the connections she drew between the real world and fae elements.

Except Kor’sarro Khan – who’s taken a break from the saddle to get a keener eye over the battlefield. With the bulk of your fast-movers seen to, a few squads of Assault Intercessors and a couple of Stormhawk Interceptors are all you need to round out a characterful White Scars army. You can find anything in the goblin market. Need a potion that will make someone fall in love with you? There’s a vendor on every corner that will sell you one. Want to buy a lamp with a genie inside that will grant you three wishes? The goblin market has you covered; turns out genies aren’t quite as rare as everyone thinks. The nostalgia was strong with this one. As I'm sure many readers will be able to relate to, I read the og Iron Fey books yearrrssss ago and I loved them. With every base covered, you can take this starting force in any direction you desire. Double down on the plasma barrage with some Primaris Inceptors, then bring the might of Roboute Guilliman, the Avenging Son, onto the battlefield. I grinned and stepped up to the table, putting my fingers to my lips. “Shh, Marla. Don’t say my name too loudly. I’m incognito tonight.”I was completely swept up into this world. As always, Kagawa's character interactions stole the show for me. I love her dialogue and laughed out loud numerous times. In the Iron Ravens, every single rank in the Chapter can be identified by the colour of the helmet. What they neglect to mention is that the love potion you bought will make your target psychotically obsessed with you, and the genie will grant your wish in the most twisted and sadistic way possible, because that’s just what they do. And this is after you’ve bargained away your soul or your voice or your best friend. The prices at the goblin market are high—mostly too high—for anyone to pay without massive regrets. The darkness throughout this definitely kept everyone on their toes - including me. I just kept hoping things were going to get better and that Robin would fight the evil that was lurking within him. It helped that the people who knew him the best could easily see that something was different about him. Lol, well I'm going to reveal my absolute geekiness and say that the name of the newest character, Nyx, is actually my D&D character, a dragon-hating elven assassin. There were a few tweaks, of course, but Nyx is...well, me in a D&D campaign. :P
