Description

A passive regeneration occurs when the vehicle exhaust system has reached a particular temperature after a sustained period of driving at specific speeds. Generally, this occurs when driving on a motorway at speeds of around 50-70mph for more than 30 minutes. If your diesel car is fitted with a DPF, it’s imperative that you use DPF compliant engine oil. Using an oil that doesn’t meet the required specifications for your engine can result in catostrophic failure. JLM Diesel Extreme Clean also contains a cetane booster. The cetane booster ensures better fuel combustion. This makes the engine run more evenly. The warning light is there to serve as an alert that the system requires attention. It’s really important to take action as soon as the light illuminates, failure to do so can result in an expensive repair bill.

JLM Diesel Extreme Clean combines the advantages of all individual diesel additives and can be used in all old and new cars with a diesel particulate filter. How to use JLM Extreme Clean Once the filter has been cleaned using Diesel Particulate Filter Cleaner it can be preventively maintained using Diesel DPF ReGen Plus 100 ml. Cleaning and restoring diesel particulate filters with JLM Cleaning & Flush fluid is more economical than replacing the diesel particulate filter and saves time as well as money. The workshop can completely clean the diesel particulate filter in a maximum of one hour, without the filter having to be dismantled.Other manufacturers add more iron to the additive to achieve the same results and advantages as JLM. The result is an increase in the amount of ash in the filter, which means that the filter must be cleaned more often and does not last as long. Have you had a bad experience with a DPF? Did a DPF cleaning additive work for you? If so we’d like to hear from you – please leave details of your experience in the comments below. A close runner up, Cataclean 6160 DPF cleaner offers exceptional performance at a really impressive price point. Cataclean claim it’ll reduce emissions but as much as 60%, a really impressive bit of kit. As well as protecting and cleaning the DPF, it’ll also protect and maintain catalytic converter systems. The key features of Cataclean 6160 DPF cleaner are; If your car is low on fuel, it may refuse to begin a DPF regeneration. It’s always good practice to ensure that the fuel tank in your car is sufficiently full. Aside from causing problems with the DPF regeneration process, running a car on low fuel can cause a whole host of other issues. What Happens During A DPF Regeneration? Only a government could create this level of misery for our engines. Imagine if this were a human produce. You would be given the flu, which inhibits your ability to breathe, and a heart condition, preventing oxygen from reaching your heart and muscles. And then every time you exhale, it’s through a small straw. Try running a marathon like that… That’s what has happened to our automobiles with DPFs.

For this reason, manufacturers of conventional cleaners reduce the amount of iron in the additive. This results in a drastic decrease in the regeneration performance. This is why you should use JLM Diesel Particulate Filter Cleaner. JLM Diesel Particulate Filter Cleaner restores the exhaust system and with it the fuel consumption, power and emission of exhaust gases to the original factory condition. JLM Diesel Particulate Filter Cleaner is proven to be suitable for passenger cars, commercial vehicles and heavy duty diesel retrofit systems. My Dpf filter warning light comes off and I blast off down the dual carriageway for 20 mins at 3000 rpm …..that has worked until this week when dpf , glow plug and engine management lights all came on and went into limp mode. For a diesel engine to perform optimally, to be as efficient as possible and to emit as little harmful exhaust fumes as possible, the complex fuel systems of diesel engines need to be well maintained. Preventative maintenance ensures a trouble-free service life and avoids expensive repairs to components such as EGR systems and diesel particulate filters (DPF).Try to repeat similar cycles a few times while driving on the treated diesel to achieve the maximum result. If all else fails then do be very careful how you proceed. Removing the DPF from your exhaust system has become rather a hot topic with transport regulators across the globe, if you have the DPF filterremoved you encounter issues passing your MOT or vehicle inspection.

Reading the comments here and the main article above, a lot of the statements made are in my experience, are incorrect regarding DPF cleaning additives. DPF Filters have a life of about 100,000 km when they will become saturated with ash. At this point they will need manually cleaning or replacing. Update ! (2016)We’ve been speaking to some industry experts on this matter and we’d like to offer an updated view. The EGR valve (Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve), sits in the engine bay and exhaust gasses flow through it before moving on through the DPF filter. Because diesel fuel is quite oily in it’s formulation, diesel cars often suffer from carbon build up in the engine. An EGR valve is a prime candidate for coking up with carbon and often results in reduced gas flow through the valve. Again, a common cause for EGR valve problems is frequent short journeys around town as opposed to motorway journeys. No, you cannot have your DPF removed. It’s a legal requirement in the UK and if removed, your car will immediately fail an MOT test. Because JLM cleaners contain less iron than other manufacturers' cleaners there is also a smaller build-up of ash in the diesel particulate filter. As a result, the service life of the filter is prolonged. Other manufacturers add more iron to the additive to achieve the same results and advantages as JLM. The result is an increase in the amount of ash in the filter, which means that the filter has to be cleaned more often and does not last as long.
