Following Hilda's initiation to the Sparrow Scouts, the scouts receive their first challenge: a beautification of the Trolberg city park. As the end of the year approached, Hilda got quite nervous about the fact that she had not earned any Sparrow Scouts badges, and was afraid to tell this to her mom. Hoards are so important to Trolls, that they believe anything not kept in a hoard means its unwanted.

She is also more prone to mischief in the graphic novels (like taking her role of pretending to be injured for first aid practice of the Sparrow Scouts too far, or going on secret adventures without her mother knowing).

The same reviewer states that the nine minutes in the first season within a library setting makes a "strong impression," including an episode featuring a special collections room, and arguing that the series makes clear the "importance of librarians and libraries for years to come. During the ceremony, the Black Hound comes out of Nowhere Space and Hilda and Tontu flee, ending up in Hilda's home. Sadly, Jorgen accidentally destroyed Hilda's house, just when she managed to arrange a truce with the king, forcing her and her mom to move to Trolberg.

While she enjoyes her new freedom and the powers that came with being a troll, she longs back for her old life.When they tried to bring him some snacks that night, they came across the Marra and discovered Frida was now with them (since Kelly was also a Marra). Other trolls bring her deeper into their world: their customs, their cuisine, and their legends; namely the infamous Mountain King. Using her magic, Frida learns that Hilda was right, there is a giant troll underneath the city: Amma, the mother of all Trolls. Trundle compliments her human trickery and sends Hilda on her final errant; to bring him a big, crimson object, hidden among the treasure of the Mountain King's ruined castle.

When the vision ends, Hilda leaves the ruins but is seen by a massive, bearded troll (thinking it was the Mountain King).

The harvest was bountiful that year and the people believed it was his doing, so they started the festival in his honor.

Thanks to Frida and Alfur, she discovered her mistake and was able to reverse it with a counter-ritual, which she had to perform during a concert of the Warblers. At the end of the adventure in the Stone Forest, Hilda and Johanna are rescued by the Great Raven in the graphic novel.Dinner is interrupted when Erik Ahlberg, the new head of the Trolberg Safety Patrol, and his second in command, associate deputy officer Gerda Gustav, drop by at the house. As of " Chapter 6: The Old Bells of Trolberg", Hilda can ride a bike just fine, and even remarks that she is getting better at it. Hilda wins an essay contest by writing about her first-hand encounter with a Troll (101 'Hidden People').
