The DadPad gives you the knowledge and practical skills necessary to support you and your partner, so that your baby gets the best possible start in life. The DadPad is best utilised as early as possible during pregnancy, around birth and beyond, and provides guidance for babies and children up to the age of two. It is used to detect spam and changing its value may result in your submission being rejected Please do not change the value of the following field.

Emotional health and wellbeing issues can arise during pregnancy and in the period following the birth of a baby in both mum and dad. There are also details of local support groups for new dads and sources of help available in Solihull. The Cornish and Scillonian themed ‘Dad Pad’ recognises the important role dads play in bringing up their children and supporting mum.The DadPad was created because babies don’t come with a set of instructions, and dads told us they wanted important information on what to expect and how to care for their baby. Having this information can bring many benefits, including helping to improve the mental health of new dads and their partners across the city during pregnancy or in the first year following the birth of a child. Devon County Council is responsible for the writing, publishing and updating of the content on this page. We expect that it will enable new dads to play an active role in helping improve the health and wellbeing outcomes families in the city.

If your area doesn’t have a button, let us know and we’ll make contact with those who can make it happen! We listened to what dads, their partners and professionals asked for and combined it all in this new ‘DadPad’. Building a strong attachment enables dads to better enjoy their new role and contributes towards positive long-term social, health and educational outcomes for their babies. You can give your feedback at any time, but ideally we’d like to hear from you from 3-4 months after the birth of your baby.

We listened to what dads, their partners and health professionals asked for and combined it all in the DadPad.Although we hope that this DadPad will help you and your family with some of the questions and problems that may arise over the coming weeks, always remember that, if you're unsure about anything to do with your baby’s health, you should contact your midwife, health visitor or GP. Cllr Dave Evans, cabinet member for children and young people said: “As a city council, our aim is to provide the best start in life for all children in the city and the DadPad can help with this. Rowena Chilton, Head of Midwifery at Hinchingbrooke Hospital, said: 'It’s fantastic news that DadPad has launched across our maternity services. It also provides guidance on how to support and seek help for your partner and yourself as you adjust to your new roles. The DadPad app is a useful resource before baby arrives and after baby is born, and is designed to be used as a quick, on-the-go reference tool, allowing new dads to enjoy their babies and feel more confident about fatherhood.
