Immerse yourself in the 175 million year journey of the Herbert’s ichthyosaur skull and experience the power of interactive storytelling. Each experience lasts approximately 5 minutes. Emmett is an adorable little (big) dinosaur. He is just over 6 feet long and the perfect stuffed buddy to cuddle with while reading a good book or watching TV. His head is made just the right size for a pillow and a high-density foam is used so the little ones can ride on him without worrying about squishing his stuffing. While this pattern is large, it is not that complex. Dippy the dinosaur is a life-size, plaster-of-paris replica of a Diplodocus carnegii skeleton. Diplodocus carnegii lived during the Late Jurassic period, about 145 – 155 million years ago and their skeletons have been found in North America. The gigantic structure, which was previously based at The Natural History Museum, will be in Coventry for the next three years. Those who will miss Dippy’s presence at the Natural History Museum will be pleased to know that a new weatherproof bronze replica of the much-loved Diplodocus specimen will be welcoming visitors in the grounds of the Museum as part of its Urban Nature Project, due for completion in early 2024. T-rex is the king of all dinosaurs and hearts when you stitch out this majestic creature on all of your prehistoric projects! You can attach it to a blanket, but I think this “ferocious” little guy is the perfect touch for your little one’s outfit. Not too baby-ish, not too scary! It is another example of how Coventry is attracting world-famous exhibits and growing the arts and culture offer following our year as City of Culture.Our Learning Team will share a short, interactive talk with our visitors, aimed at families, but all are welcome. Standing at the feet of this 26-foot Diplodocus, you will learn more about Dippy and get hands-on with some of the fossils from the Herbert’s natural history collection. Other Privacy Issues

Dippy the iconic Diplodocus is heading to Coventry. The Jurassic giant will be taking residency at the Herbert Art Gallery & Museum from Monday, February 20. Slots are bookable in 15 minute intervals. There are no set times for viewing and you visitors can stay as long as they wish. These extended hours include staying open until 6pm on Tuesday 21, Wednesday 22, Friday 24 and Saturday 25 February and 9pm on Thursday 23 February. These family-friendly talks will last approximately 20 minutes, in a relaxed and informal environment.
