Description

Celluvisc eye drops come in single-dose units that are sterile and preservative-free. Each unit is for single use only. There should be enough in each dose unit to treat both eyes if required. Once you have put the drops in you should throw away the dose unit, even if there is some medicine left in it. If you are using more than one type of eye drop you should administer them at least 15 minutes before or after Celluvisc, to prevent the second drop washing away the first. Use eye gels or ointments last. The frequency of adverse reactions documented during clinical trials is given. The frequency is defined as follows: Very Common (≥ 1/10); Common (≥1/100, <1/10); Uncommon (≥1/1,000, <1/100); Rare (≥1/10,000, <1/1,000); Very Rare (<1/10,000), not known (cannot be estimated from the available data). The usual dose for adults and children is 1 drop into the affected eye(s), 4 times a day, or as needed.

Carmellose sodium, lactic acid, sodium hydroxide, sodium chloride, potassium chloride, calcium chloride, sodium edetate, cetrimide (preservative), water. Common: Eye irritation (including burning and discomfort), eye pain, eye pruritus, visual disturbance. To avoid introducing germs into the eyes, don’t allow the open end of the single-dose container to touch your eye or anything else. blink regularly (ask your doctor or eye specialist for advice on blinking exercises if you need them) Single-dose droppers should usually be used as soon as you open them. But you can reseal some brands and use them again up to 12 hours later, for example Carmize, Cellusan and Melophthal.

If you find it hard to use eye drops, ask a pharmacist for advice. They may be able to recommend an eye drop dispenser. Using eye drops correctly can be difficult, but there are several useful devices (compliance aids) available to help. Speak to your pharmacist to see which device would best suit your eye drops. Brands include,Autodrop, Opticare and Drop Aid Single Dose. Expiry dates and storage After administration, in rare cases, a slight temporary blurring of vision may be observed due to the viscosity of the solution. It is therefore advisable to wait for a few seconds before any activity that requires clear vision. Superficial injury of eye ( from the vial tip touching the eye during administration) and/or corneal abrasion. If you feel you have experienced an allergic reaction, stop using this medicine and inform your doctor or pharmacist immediately. Carmellose is a synthetic polymer that forms a viscous eye gel. It produces a transparent, lubricating and moistening film on the surface of the eye and is used as artificial tears.

For more information about any other possible risks associated with this medicine, please read the information provided with the medicine or consult your doctor or pharmacist.

Use one drop into the eye (or eyes) affected by dryness. Many people find it is sufficient to use the drops three or four times a day, but you can use the drops more frequently if your eyes are very dry. If the drops have been prescribed for you then follow the directions given by your doctor. Optive eye drops provide soothing relief from the symptoms of dry eyes, such as soreness, irritation or a gritty sensation. These may be caused by your eye not producing enough tears to keep the eye moist, or by things such as certain medical conditions or treatments, prolonged use of computer screens (where you tend to blink less and thus not lubricate the eyes sufficiently), or drying atmospheric conditions such as air-conditioning, central heating or atmospheric pollution. Hold the bottle or dropper over your eye, look up, and allow 1 drop to fall into your lower eyelid.

The following additional adverse reactions have been identified during postmarketing use of Celluvisc in clinical practice. Because postmarketing reporting of these reactions is voluntary and from a population of uncertain size, it is not always possible to reliably estimate the frequency of these reactions. If you are using more than one type of eye drop you should administer them at least five minutes apart, to prevent the second drop washing away the first. Use eye gels or ointments last. If your eye irritation persists or gets worse after using these drops, or you experience a headache, eye pain, vision changes or continued redness, you should stop using these eye drops and consult your doctor. Carmellose sodium eye drops can be stored at room temperature and do not need to be kept in a fridge. What if I forget to use it?
