Description

When we took on the farm in 2006, we were determined to leave it in better condition than we found it for future generations. A bag of crunchy and punchy homegrown potato crisps that are made for the chilli lovers out there, giving you a herby and sweet finish after each bite.

While we make every effort to deliver on your preferred date, shipments may arrive one day either side of your selected day during busy periods. We also appreciate that we can just pick up the phone and ask questions if we need to, and we can only see this relationship growing stronger in time. We harvest potatoes, maize and rye on beautiful farmland across the Colne Valley just north of Colchester in Essex.Made with homegrown potatoes from the family farm which make a great base for this moreish, meaty flavour of roast rib of beef. Produced from crisping potatoes which are grown, harvested, and handcooked at our family farm in Essex, then delivered to your from door. The 2022 potato harvest across the UK and Europe has been impacted by the very dry, exceptionally hot weather this summer. We’re particularly excited, though, to be really focusing on what a sustainable future means for us.

Throughout a tough period for everyone, we’ve been so pleased to see our sales grow and we put a lot of that down to the personal touch. In Time for Christmas' deliveries are made from 2nd December dependent on the gift contents and shelf life (Birthday specific giftcodes starting BC will be shipped asap). Potatoes, Vegetable Oil (Sunflower, Rapeseed Oil - in varying proportions), Sugar, Rice flour, Tomato Powder, Salt, Onion Powder, Yeast Extracts, Citric Acid, Natural Flavourings, Smoked Maltodextrin, Paprika Extract. Sprinkled lightly with pure sea salt to bring out the natural and fantastic flavour of the specialist variety of crisping potatoes. We’re Laura and Robert Strathern, a third-generation farming family growing potatoes, and producers of award-winning crisps right here on the farm. We really do believe we have a duty here; with the country’s self-sufficiency dropping year on year it’s all the more important that the land is put to efficient – and environmentally sympathetic – use. Fairfields Farm also grow their own special varieties of crisping potatoes which are hand cooked on the farm to the highest possible standards. We already have a lot going on at the farm, including tree planting programmes, our solar panel array and the anaerobic digestion plant (which gets fed maize and rye and makes energy), but we know we can do more, particularly when it comes to biodiversity. The Chevallier family use English apples like Cox and Bramley, which give their Cyder vinegar and our crisps their unique and delicious taste.

We’ve come out of the pandemic in a strong position to grow, and we’ve made investments on the farm to help us along – new lines to wash potatoes, and new equipment to make our factory more efficient. They harvest potatoes, maize and rye on beautiful farmland across the Colne Valley just north of Colchester in Essex. POWERED BY RENEWABLE ENERGY As well as growing delicious potatoes and crisps, we are passionate about making our processes as sustainable as possible and strive to be a carbon-neutral company. In fact we export to about 20 countries including Mauritius, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Dubai, Germany, Norway, USA and Canada. The traditional potato crisps have proved so successful that the Strathern’s have also branched out into vegetable crisp production as well, including parsnip crisps flavoured with Essex honey and black pepper.

Just over 10% of our land is dedicated to wild bird cover, which means we plant spaces in which birds can thrive. We really believe that to understand a small business like ours you need to see it for yourself, and so visits from our contacts at the East of England Co-op to the family farm are always welcome.Potatoes, Vegetable Oil (Sunflower, Rapeseed - in varying proportions), Onion Powder, Yeast Extract, Vegetble Fat Powder (High Oleic Sunflower Oil, Glucose Syrup, Modified Starch (E1450: Starch Sodium Octenyl Succinate)), Sugar, Salt, Yeast Powder, Garlic Powder, Natural Flavourings, Lactic Acid, Citric Acid, Paprika Extract.
