Collects (1964) #133-154 & Annual 4, Ghost Rider (1973) #20 (and material from #19), and Marvel Premiere (1972) #39-40 & 43 Lastly we have the man without Fear. This is Frank Millers retelling of DD's origin story with art by JRJR. I loved this retelling and out of the whole companion this was my favourite story. There have been complaints over JRJR's artwork as some people dont like his style. But personally i think hes a brilliant artist and his work here is phenominal. (5/5) This run signalled a change in the winds of the comic landscape. A slight breeze had now come over it and Miller was creating it. On his Daredevil run, he broke the mold that had been the standard on marvel. His stories had depth, something that Marvel was struggling to find. The template was to have the hero meet the villain and for the villain to go to jail after a bit of a romp. Frank Miller didn’t do that. He made a villain who was too powerful and rich to go to jail. The template was not to let stories spill over into the next issue too much. Frank Miller used every issue he had on this run to tie into the last one he wrote and made everything connected. The breeze in the comic landscape was truly blowing and in a few years when The Dark Knight Return came out, that breeze would turn into a tornado.

Daredevil #158-161, #163-164 and Peter Parker - The Spectacular Spider-Man #27-28 were only drawn by Frank Miller. Daredevil: Yellow A four-issue mini-series re-examining the origins of Daredevil, but with some present-day references. by Chip Zdarsky: To Heaven Through Hell Vol. 4 ( 2023 oversize hardcover, ISBN 978-1302950057 / digital)The below team-ups span various eras of Daredevil’s history, and don’t have to follow the preceding section of comics! Also available in a later printed hardcover, Daredevil: Echo – Vision Quest. Recollected in Marvel Knights By Joe Quesada Omnibus (2018 oversize hardcover) Daredevil (1964) #1-41, Daredevil Annual (1967) #1, Fantastic Four (1961) #73, material from Not Brand Echh (1967) #4 is a collection of the digital-first series “Road Warrior,” which bridges the gap between his previous Daredevil series and the All-New volume. May be collected on its own or as a part of the first All-New volume. Marvel Knights #1-9: Marvel Knights by Dixon & Barreto: Defenders of the Streets (ISBN 9781302912130)

While this was published as part of All-New, All-Different Marvel, it occurs entirely prior to the beginning of the Charles Soule series. I absolutely loved the introduction of Elektra. She is the first, and only, Daredevil love interest I like. I just wish we got to see more of her and Matt together. Either after #605 above or between Without Fear and Marvel Knights: Amazing Spider-Man (2018) #10, Punisher (2018) #2-3, Deadpool (2018) #9 War of the Realms: War Scrolls (2019) #1-3A classic superhero run with fluid and well framed action, tight storylines, and some surprisingly tactful characterization. After #259: Amazing Spider-Man Annual 22, Marvel Comics Presents #4-5, Marvel Super-Heroes #2 After #261: Code of Honor #4 Civil War II: See Guide to Marvel Universe Events – Civil War II. This occurs between #9-10 for Matt. He figures prominently into Civil War II (2016) #3 and The Accused (2016) #1, which are concurrent to each other.

Not collected (except Masterworks & Essentials, above). #99 is collected with Avengers Masterworks and Essentials. This book had some comedic moments, mostly with Turk. It was a nice way to break up the darkness of this.

Success!

The Essentials line has been discontinued and will not extend past #146. Jump to that spot in the chronology. Daredevil Masterworks Collects (1964) #271-282 & Annual 5-6 and material from Punisher (1987) Annual 3, Incredible Hulk (1968) Annual 16, and Silver Surfer (1987) Annual 3 Not collected in this format. These issues were not written by Bendis. See below for collection information. A prohibitive classic – the final showdown between Bullseye and Elektra. Collected above in Daredevil vs. Bullseye and Elektra: The Movie

Both annuals come at the start of this run after #270 (except supporting stories from 5, noted above). Also collects material from Punisher Annual 3, Incredible Hulk Annual 16, and Silver Surfer Annual 3 Characterization is also a bit mixed for me with some characters being rather one dimensional (Foggy, Bullseye) while others are more well rounded or intriguing. Interpersonal relationships were well explored and less lionizing than the typical superhero fare which I appreciated as well. Collects (1998) #82-105. Reprinted in 2017 as 978-1302905088. Reprinted in 2022 as 978-1302945510. ( digital) Then Miller sets up Bullseye and makes him a extremely evil threat. While doing so he also gets to showcase Matt's limits and how close he is to letting Bullseye finally die. It's a great issue and only helps set up the big showdown later in the omnibus. Then Miller introduces the man, the legend, Fisk, into the big picture and things get even more crazy.
