Firstly, thank you to Netgalley, Bonnier Books UK and William Hussey for the opportunity to read the current ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Jericho - Now when Joshua Joshua 5:13-6:27 NIV - The Fall of Jericho - Now when Joshua

It wasn't quite what I was expecting from the blurb. It was weirdly both entertaining and not in different places. I usually love Zaffre Books, but this fell a bit short of the mark. I know little about the traveller community so I loved this about the story and the main protagonist's life, this felt so unique to read in this genre and it was all the better for it. Also, I am here for all books with great LGBTQ+ rep! The year 2023 is upon us. With the economy in the doldrums, war in Europe and plenty of uncertainty ahead, if you’re a crime fiction lover at least there will be plenty of opportunity to immerse yourself in a good mystery. Plenty of good books are on the way in this genre, and quite a few great ones as well. It’s taken us ages to debate and discuss our most wanted list for the New Year, but here they are. Trends and patterns are hard to spot, but it does look like there will be a lot of fascinating crime novels from women authors. What we haven’t spotted are any truly great-looking historical crime novels, though. The gothic, helter-skelter thriller debut introduces crime fiction’s first-ever Traveller detective, Scott Jericho.

William Hussey was already on my list of favorite authors, and I can’t wait to read the second book of this series! That is until a series of bizarre murders reawaken his interest. Men and women with no obvious link to each other are being ritualistically slaughtered. Despite all the flaws the main character is likable. He is damaged because of years spent in jail, but you root for him, even when he makes a bad decision.

Crime fiction is crying out for more diversity, and in Scott Jericho we have been gifted a blisteringly new brand of hero." - Sarah Hilary I wasn’t sure if this was for me when I started reading but I was soon pulled in. We have a damaged lead character and plenty of twists and turns that keep you guessing (wrongly!) right to the end. I am left bereft now I’ve finished Killing Jericho! I hope we don’t have to wait too long for book two! A stunning and masterful read from a hugely talented author. This is the first book in a new series by an author new to me and now I am looking forward to reading more. Full of breath-taking twists, KILLING JERICHO is the first in the darkly gothic SCOTT JERICHO crime series. It is perfect for fans of JD Kirk, John Connolly, LJ Ross, Alex Smith, David J Gatward and JE Mayhew

Killing Jericho (William Hussey) – Book Review – Set The Tape

The strong consensus among scholars is that the Book of Joshua holds little historical value. [12] Its origin lies in a time far removed from the times that it depicts, [13] and its intention is primarily theological in detailing how Israel and her leaders are judged by their obedience to the teachings and laws (the covenant) set down in the Book of Deuteronomy. [14] The story of Jericho and the rest of the conquest represents the nationalist propaganda of the Kingdom of Judah and their claims to the territory of the Kingdom of Israel after 722 BCE; [3] and that those chapters were later incorporated into an early form of Joshua likely written late in the reign of King Josiah (reigned 640–609 BCE), and the book was revised and completed after the fall of Jerusalem to the Babylonians in 586, and possibly after the return from the Babylonian exile in 538. [15] See also [ edit ] Publishing director Ben Willis acquired world all language rights from Veronique Baxter at David Higham Associates, with Killing Jericho scheduled for publication in summer 2023, Some of this was foretold to Abraham hundreds of years earlier. Much of Jericho's crimes may have paralleled those of the Antediluvian world during the time of Noah. The result of that was the Flood. A bit later in Abraham's time, Sodom and Gomorrah were incinerated (Gen. 19). Should we disbelieve God by suggesting there was insufficient reason for their having filled up the measure of His wrath? And seven priests shall bear before the ark seven trumpets of rams’ horns: and the seventh day ye shall compass the city seven times, and the priests shall blow with the trumpets. Scott Jericho is a troubled, ingenious sleuth who draws on the skills of his unique upbringing and heritage to solve a series of baffling murders. I love William Hussey’s writing! It’s fascinating and captivating, and unputdownable. William writes 'showing' like no other, whether it’s a YA contemporary or an adult thriller. Whereas his YA novels are written bluntly but on the softer side, this thriller is rougher and darker and sometimes more graphic.
