The 1999 audio releases include a 1999 edit of "Eagle" and full original versions of "The Visitors" and "Lovelight". As " I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do" and " Ring Ring" had been added to the domestic version of Gold: Greatest Hits, these, along with "Lovelight" and "Cassandra", were removed.

Originally, “Just Like That”, another track from the 1982 recording sessions, was planned to be released on this disc. My faves are 'Knowing Me, Knowing You', 'Voulez Vous', 'One of Us', 'Name of the Game' and 'Lay All Your Love On Me'. Rather than issue the multiple previous compilations, PolyGram put together a new collection, optimised for the CD format.

I'll put it this way: if you come away from ABBA Gold: Greatest Hits unmoved, you probably don't like ABBA, and that's fine. A 4:27 edited version of " The Visitors" was replaced by the original 5:49 version, while an alternate mix of "Lovelight" was replaced by the version originally released in 1979.
