Side-note: please go read her earlier, swoony Beginner’s Luck series, as well as Love Lettering and Love at First. A sweet novel that reminds you going back is sometimes the best path forward' JODI PICOULT --This text refers to the paperback edition. Georgie, All Along is a treat of a read, a wonderful story of love and self discovery to sink into and get lost in. In many other hands, Georgie would've been OTT and cringey but somehow she was made to be loud and chaotic and it feel genuine instead of put on. But I think - as with Georgie - the author is very thoughtful in showing the reader what elements of Levi's personality are external misunderstanding and gender stereotype, and which elements merit a much more thorough grounding via backstory and exploration and understanding.

He misses his brother Evan and his sister, Olivia, but knows he can’t contact them ever again after the incident. Her novels have been named Best Romances of the Year by O, The Oprah Magazine, Entertainment Weekly, The Washington Post , Buzzfeed, Romper, and more. She didn’t amount to much at school and never had any real ambitions beyond it; but her ability to live completely in the ‘now’, to adapt and to think on her feet proved to be exactly suited to working as a PA to high-powered (and high-maintenance) intensely creative – and often intensely chaotic – people in the entertainment industry. It's lyrical and engrossing, a novel that possesses all the colors, idiosyncrasies, and range of the alphabet.I loved that the book told the story of two youngish (compared to me) people growing and learning to love themselves, people can learn a thing or two from this couple. He, too, has come a long way: From local troublemaker to local dock builder, Levi rose to many occasions - just not confronting his toxic father and, thus, he’s also estranged from his siblings for no good reason at all. Instead of finding a new PA job in Los Angeles, Georgie decides to move back home, to a small town in Virginia, to help her best friend, Bel, who is almost ready to give birth to her first baby. Now that she’s in her late twenties and feeling directionless, Georgie decides to use this diary as a guide to figuring out what she truly wants for her life.

With a perfect dose of humor, wisdom and insight and an endearing cast of characters, Georgie, All Along by Kate Clayborn is an emotional, heartwarming and feel-good read that will leave you with a smile on your face. I was left with that warm, glowing love for humanity that is always what I'm chasing when I read this genre: the sense of togetherness, of hope, of even unsolvable problems feeling less impossible. While I enjoyed a lot about this book it was a little too slow going for my tastes and a little long in the tooth for what it is so I can't bump it up to four stars but I think many people will like it and I would read more of this author's work for sure. Then Georgie comes across a forgotten artifact-a 'friendfic' diary she wrote as a teenager, filled with possibilities she once imagined. As the two make their way through her wishlist, Georgie begins to realize that what she truly wants might not be in the pages of her diary after all, but right by her side—if only they can both find a way to let go of the pasts that hold them back.

Anyway, where I’m going with this, is that Georgie, All Along has some really lovely sex scenes (including one where the heroine gets herself off, and the hero doesn’t) that both reflect the characters involved and contribute meaningfully to the emotional trajectory of their relationship.

And as they work through her wish list, she realises what she truly wants might not be in her diary after all, but right by her side - if only they can both find a way to let go of their pasts. Oh, AND this book has one of the funniest MEET-DISASTERS I’ve read in a contemporary romance in a long time! Georgie and Levi are opposites, he’s grumpy and she’s an optimist, but they balance each other out and need each other more than they believe they do at first. Anyway, this is a very moving, well-written, thoughtful, and lovely book, which might just make you feel a bit of much-needed care while you read. The only person who gives Levi a chance is Paul, Georgie's peacemaker father, who invites him to stay in their vacant house until his house’s construction gets finished. While unpacking boxes at Bel’s house, Georgie finds an old journal that she and Bel had written in when they were thirteen.

I want Georgie to be my best friend (no offense to my current best friends) and I have a big fat crush on Levi (no offense to my husband). To put in super blunt terms, the fact that it’s damage and toxic masculinity that creates these paradigms we are taught to find so desirable and admirable. This whimsical rom-com from Clayborn (Best of Luck) contrasts cute romance with cringe-worthy moments of embarrassment for the bumbling central couple. A wise and witty new novel that echoes with timely questions about love, career, reconciling with the past, and finding your path while knowing your true worth. Having lost her job as a PA in Los Angeles, Georgie is back in her small town facing lost questions of who she is on her own, what she truly wants for herself.
