Description
When he tells young Framboise that he can no longer see her, likely ever again, she cries, imploring that this not be so.
It does for gardening and wine what Chocolat does for chocolate, it's even partly set in the same town, with some familiar names making appearances.
What role do the travellers play in this story, and why do you think the author chose to include them? Nors aš šokoladą mėgstu labiau nei vyną, antroji trilogijos dalis, mano akimis, dar geresnė už "Šokoladą". Just close enough to coincidence or wishful thinking that if you can't step over into fantasy, you don't have to. Viskas prasideda nuo to, kai rūsyje atsiranda šeši seno vyno buteliai, ranka užrašytomis etiketėmis – Ypatingieji. Blackberry Wine is in a sense a follow-on to Chocolat*, in that it takes place in and around the same French village with a few of the same characters popping into the story.
The character of Jackapple Joe Cox, gardener, Yorkshireman, ex-miner, amateur magician and seeker after wider vistas, is closely based on him, and it is he who forms the backbone of the story. Her hobbies are listed in Who's Who as 'mooching, lounging, strutting, strumming, priest-baiting and quiet subversion'. Wine is an important motif in the book - so much so that its narrator (in places) is, rather bizarrely, a bottle of wine. To put a stop to Kerry's machinations, Jay burns the sole manuscript of his book and, finally at peace with himself, prepares to begin a new life with Marise.
