Offset design for PCIe clearance – Compared to the original NH-C14, the layout of the NH-C14S has been offset in two axis.

In cases that use PCIe riser cables, the cooler can be mounted with the heatpipes facing the PCIe slot with use of Noctua’s NM-AM4 mounting kit. The fan in top-mount mode – great for motherboard component clearance, not so great for smaller cases.

Once I disabled the things I mentioned above, it made a massive difference in temps/power will only slightly lower maximum performance (only noticeable in synthetic benchmarks). I really think the main contributing factor to the heat in my room is from both the weather, and the fact there is a desktop computer in my room. Being a low profile cooler it can have the fan in one of two positions, above or below the heat sink. I think that this is a fantastic offer, albeit with one caveat – both Intel and AMD seem to have decided on a standardized (to each vendor’s respective platform) mounting system for coolers, somewhat obviating the need. Thanks to this measure, the heatsink will clear the top PCIe slot on most µATX and ATX motherboards when the bendings of the heatpipes face the PCIe slots or the I/O panel. Reporting back: I've ended up setting ECO mode because summer is here and the room is already at 25C and now the fan is very livable with. Finally, in the large box on the left side of the picture above is the NH-C14S, which we will delve deeper into on the next page.
