Description

This unusual variety has a large hollow seed cavity - ideal for stuffing like a pepper, or just use as normal - and is one of the prettiest tomatoes we have grown, with a true peach-blush on the skin. Highly productive. Extra-dwarf tomato Orange Hat started flowering while still indoors under lights. Cream Sausage wasn’t far behind and started producing fruit earlier than any other in-ground variety. Right behind Orange Hat on the patio was Amber Colored. This is a short-vine plant; grow as a vine, but dont expect it to get too tall. Great for an extended harvest in short-season areas! The reisetomate heirloom tomato fruits will all produce these highly clustered, yet single, tomatoes. If there is a genetic hiccup, it happened to the whole plant and not just the occasional fruit, which are borne 79 to 85 days from seeding. The flavor is sweet, yet sharp and acidic, but not bitter or too sour.

This tomato plant will yield masses of beautiful pink coloured beefsteak tomatoes (350-425g) which are highly ribbed and very attractive. Higher yielding and earlier maturing than either parent, you will be harvesting these delicious tomatoes from late July-early October. Reaching heights of 151-200cm (59-79) and spread 41-50cm (16-20).The Big Brandy variety is a fruit with rich complexity that works well fresh and cooked. I got seeds from you two, maybe three years ago, but only sowed this Spring. Growing in a polytunnel in Scottish Highlands. Size, flavour and texture superb... Thank you so much. Ian Reisetomate plants have sections like an orange that may be hand pulled from the main bunch. I have seen similar anomalies in my pear and slicing tomatoes, but these were just one-offs that happened due to genetic hiccups in the development of the fruit. All the fruitlets on one fruit don’t necessarily ripen at quite the same time, so you may have both green and red ones in the same cluster, even green, red and overly ripe ones.

Green Zebra is a very special tomato, created in 1983 by Tom Wagner of 'Tater Mater Seeds' - a flavour-obsessed tomato and potato breeder who has worked all his life creating new varieties. This is an INDETERMINATE variety and as such requires vines support or climbing frame. How to Grow Your Tomato Seeds Whatever the genesis, this tomato is a visual oddity. It has the appearance of numerous cherry tomatoes all fused together in one glorious experiment. Each section of the tomato can be pulled apart without a knife. The globular fruit is a miracle of natural invention and gives guarantee that whoever made our world had a sense of humor. About Reisetomate Heirloom Tomato

£2.99

The name translates as 'ugly, from the wide river' - well they may not be the prettiest of tomatoes, but in this case looks definitely aren't everything! When you grow it, you’ll see that its stems, at first tubular like most tomatoes, soon often become flat and ribbon-like (fasciated) and even the flowers are often fasciated: extra-large and strangely split and deformed. The fruit simply continues that trend, splitting and dividing like a sort of vegetable tumor. Of course, the “tumor” is not cancerous nor does it cause cancer and in fact, like all tomatoes, the fruit contains plenty of antioxidants that help prevent the disease.

We really like this one, as it is one of the best flavoured of the big-fruited tomatoes - it has a particularly good balance of sweetness and acid. Red Zebra was discovered by Jeff Dawson in the late 1990’s, when he spotted just one different-type plant in his huge field of Green Zebra tomatoes. The goal of the Dallas Tomato Trials is to determine the best heirloom tomatoes for growing in North Texas through real-world testing. Our Seed Club: Due to ridiculous seed laws here in the UK, many of our fantastic vegetable seeds cannot in theory be supplied to the public, because they are not on the UK National List of permitted vegetable varieties1 But we do supply them to members of our seed club. It is thought by many people to be one of the tastiest tomatoes ever. Don't be put off by the colour, it really is ripe when bright green, there's been 30 years of breeding to make it that way! And the flavour is fantastic.A great new variety from our 2018 Early Tomato Trials. We chose it from a collection of northern-adapted varieties as it sounded amazing - not only a rich flavour, but cold-resisitant; the parent plants were chosen after a hard frost killed off all the other baby tomatoes being grown at the time. Provide at least 1 ½ inches of water per week, preferably to the roots. Tomatoes benefit from mulching and in cooler areas applying red or dark mulch around the roots can enhance early growth. Be cautious about overfeeding tomatoes with a high nitrogen plant food, as this will just encourage leafy growth at the expense of those fun clustered fruits.

Sow your tomato seeds in early Spring to Summer – all year round in subtropical and tropical areas. The flavour is fantastic and this is a special strain we have reselected ourselves for bigger, fruit. Interestingly, several years after we chose this in our taste trials, we discovered that it was in fact bred from our other very good flavoured tomato, Galina. We require this information to understand your needs and provide you with a better service, and in particular for the following reasons:The vines don't grow too tall for us (so good at the shorter edge of a greenhouse) but make a good crop of really nice rounded red tomatoes for a long season. We found that it was indeed very productive, and also vigorous. If they start to branch, you do need to keep the sideshoots pinched out.
