Austerity Dogs isn't "we're all in this together" claptrap, nor some expensively educated pillock holidaying in other peoples' poverty like they've never heard 'Common People'. Months ago, back when I first started seeing this album on this site, I had it judged by its cover, title and band name.

He talks about "music scene-think-they-ares", then speaks as if he is one ('I'll have a 32" waste in raw denim and stick 'em in the freezer'). Enter Mr Jim Sclavunos, the multi talented Grinderman and Bad Seed, not to mention the superbaaad connoisseur of the mixing console, fresh from producing the storming second Jim Jones Revue album. Each song is a stream-of-unconsciousness from the collective dream-time of the dead-end worker who's pissed off with his boss, pissed off with shit drug dealers, pissed off with aggro cunts in clubs, pissed off with "Brian Eno – what the fuck does he know?Songs that the band have honed and crafted in the mighty maelstrom that is the Leeds heavy rock scene, have been rippin' 'em up live not only in Yorkshire but everywhere they've played. As well as the unparalleled joy of keeping the publication alive, you'll receive benefits including exclusive editorial, podcasts, and specially-commissioned music by some of our favourite artists. And if you think "Mod" is just about dressing up like "page 7 Weller" and boring on about Small Faces all day and night on yer reissue 60s Vespa, then don't bother mate. Allo Darlin's eponymous debut album runs the spectrum from joyous, breezy, punky, jump-around pop with fabulous harmonies to sparse ukulele and steel guitar heartbreakers.

But then I gave it one more listen on the web, and one more and one more and then I did by the LP and never looked back since. In an age where everything seems to have been done before, where so many bands seem happy to tread over old ground, and where as a listener it sometimes feels a bit like you're grateful to just find a band that at least treads over that old ground with new shoes, 'Austerity Dogs' is a kick aimed squarely and with extreme firmness up your musical arse. Just after the release of Wank the duo were invited to play a three day festival curated by Nottingham's Rammel Club.

It’s a ***hole, but its home”, Jason Williamson, frontman of UK post-punk/hip-hop Sleaford Mods, states about the city of Nottingham, where the band is based. All image and audio content is used by permission of the copyright holders or their agents, and/or according to fair dealing as per the UK Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988. Formed 2 years ago out of the ashes of Leeds garage rockers The Bacchae, the band were seduced by the brutal and hypnotic lure of the riff, to emerge translucent skinned and bleary eyed from their cocoon as the ferocious kick-ass heavy rock outfit that is Black Moth. Punk mit Rap plus Geklapper oder Eindreschen auf "Schlagzeug" (oder sind's Kochtöpfe oder Güllekübel? It jumps out of the speakers and squares right up to your face, an eyebrow cocked, an acute feral intelligence in tow.

As with all NHS releases the album package will be something very special, with some very special cover art.

No-one escapes – bosses, pop stars, wannabe hard men in the pub, pimps, drug dealers…they all get the same treatment. It's Chris Morris with a class consciousness, laying bare the surreal tapestry of horrors that face the working class in Britain today.
