For the last seventy-four years, the Capitol has demanded the sacrifice of a teenage boy and a teenage girl from each district to remind the districts annually of how miserably their rebellion failed and to keep them mindful of how absolutely the Capitol rules every aspect of their lives. Panem, a post-apocalyptic society divided into twelve districts, is ruled with an iron fist by the Capitol.

Tackling themes including inequality, accountability and ethics, Suzanne Collins’ best-selling trilogy features on the BBC’s list of 100 most influential books. The goods do not need to be in their original packaging however in a sellable condition, and at your own cost and risk. The Capitol keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV… And the odds are against all who play. Those who regularly read and study the kind of books that explore these deeper topics should easily recognize the merit these books deserve, however. In the first instalment of the series, The Hunger Games Collins introduces us to Katniss Everdeen, a strong-willed and resourceful young woman living in the impoverished District 12.Dopo tanti anni di questo stile di vita, i distretti decidono di ribellarsi e cercare di conquistare la città capitale che finisce in fallimento con anche la distruzione del distretto 13 e Capitol City, per punizione, decise di instaurare dei giochi all'ultimo sangue dove vengono mandati al macello due persone per ciascun distretto. He was too good for what the Capitol did to him, and that only made me hate the tyrannical and evil President Snow even more. Despite his initial disdain for the tributes, Coriolanus finds himself drawn to his assigned tribute, a young girl named Lucy Gray Baird, who possesses a mesmerizing singing voice. Visit the shockingly real world of Panem and revel in the stakes and spectacle of Suzanne Collins's masterpiece series in a deluxe illustrated edition. The attempt to give her flaws that are supposed to make her human and bring her to life in our minds stops short, instead only managing to make her insufferable, willfully stupid and in possession of just as much female intuition as a weightlifter on steroids.

And then we realize that this was the entire purpose for this character in the scope of Collins story and then we feel abused. The books she is most successful for in teenage eyes are The Hunger Games, Catching Fire and Mockingjay.

Katniss is one-dimensional and never truly evolves; but since the entire world revolves around her, let's take a closer look. The Hunger Games trilogy consists of three books and a prequel, including The Hunger Games, Catching Fire, Mockingjay - and its prequel, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.

While both are elated that they the worst part is over, Katniss realises that she has made it in to the Capitol’s watchlist. Most of the good fiction/fantasy/scifi literature these days is coming out of the Young Adult and Juvenile areas, so every six months or so I round up the new stuff and go on a reading spree. As a brutal reminder of its authority, the Capitol organizes the Hunger Games, an annual event where two tributes, a boy and a girl, from each district, must fight to the death. The book provides insight into the origins of the Hunger Games and the early stages of the Capitol's control over the districts, offering a complex and morally ambiguous perspective on a character who would become one of the series' main antagonists.
