Because I could work around it, it’s more of a hassle than an actual problem. I also don’t plan on using the light without the softbox diffuser, so It’s unlikely I’ll experience it often. Though, if you plan on using the reflector or a lighter diffuser, this could be more of an issue for you. What feels like a first the amaran 60d/60x lights don’t include a remote; however, the lights are fully compatible with Sidus Link. Aputure has been focusing on their current lighting products to be robust with better build quality and higher outputs, such as the NOVA P600c and Light Storm 1200d Pro. Still, fixing fan noise is an extra step that I’d rather not deal with. Don’t get me wrong, the fan is necessary. The light would overheat without it, but I’d have liked a way to adjust fan curves, instead of having the fan turn on immediately. To be fair, that’s asking a lot from a product at this price point. The tradeoff is that the 60d has a higher maximum brightness. For my use case, though, the COB 60x’s color temperature range is very much worth the extra. In addition to the included AC Power supply, The fixtures can be powered using the included Dual Sony NP-F Battery Plate, or a D-Tap Battery (cable sold separately), which attaches to the V-Mount plate located on the side of the light. No Gold Mount option is avavaible. As an RGBWW fixture, you can tune the output of the P60c to any color that you want. It also has 46 color gel presets. When set to 5600K (daylight) and used with the included reflector attachment, the COB 60x can output 35,700 lux from a 1m distance. The light is rated as having a CRI (Color Rendering Index) of 96, meaning it can accurately portray the color of illuminated objects — CRI tops out at 100, so 96 is quite good. The COB 60x’s display lists the current color temperature and brightness, which can be adjusted via the knob or the Bluetooth app. There’s hardly anything negative to say about this product. I didn’t encounter anything that put me off completely, which is a testament to Aputure’s design. But there were a couple of small things I should mention. The cooling fan is one of them, and the battery functionality is another. The app experience was also an issue, though to a smaller extent. Fan Noise The amaran line is designed for entry-level productions or someone who wants to own gear at a more affordable price. The build quality will be less robust than that of the Aputure Light Storm series, but the new COB 60d and 60x is very compact, which looks like a good option for travel. The amaran 60d/60x comes with a Hyper Reflector (Mini) that Aputure states are specially designed with a 15° Beam Angle. This is a pretty tight degree however the light is very compact, and the reflector is much smaller than the more common you see on the Light Storm 120 through 600 series.

As with most bi-color lights, output decreases for the flexibility of having the 2700K to 6500k option. Below are the stated output readings provided by Aputure. The new mini reflector being much smaller has a new design with three extended arms to attach to the Bownes Mount. Hopefully, other versions with a wider spread will be available. The bare bulb without the reflector has a 120° beam angle.
