HOW OFTEN SHOULD I USE SUNSCREEN?Every day! It should be as second nature as brushing your teeth. Using SPF daily is the not only the best way to help reduce the effects of premature ageing but also an important measure to help protect against health risks posed by sun exposure. Learn more about the importance of SPF >

Sunscreen is a year-round must-have, but especially helpful when the weather gets warmer and the sun stays out longer. Even if you’re working from home every day and saving your leisurely walks or daily run for the early evening, having the best sunscreens for 2023 on hand ensures that your skin is shielded from sun damage, seen and unseen. And this year, the options are more expansive than ever.

Who are The INKEY List?

What is the difference between INKEY’s Mineral SPF and PGA SPF? INKEY’s Mineral SPF uses a physical or inorganic non nano UV filter which reflects and scatters UV rays. It is pigmented to reduce whitening and leaves a matte finish to the skin. INKEY’s PGA Dewy SPF 30 uses organic chemical UV filters which is combined with an 8% Hydration Complex, including PGA, leaving the skin with a dewy finish.

We’ve looked at texture, application, claims and the impact on skin to find out which one is worth your time and money. To remain protected when outdoors, reapply sunscreen every two hours, or immediately after swimming or sweating. People who get sunburned usually didn't use enough sunscreen, didn't reapply it after being in the sun, or used an expired product. Your skin is exposed to the sun's harmful UV rays every time you go outside, even on cloudy days and in the winter. I have to remind myself that the difference between an SPF 30 and 50 is slight. An SPF 30 defends the skin from approximately 97% of UVB rays, whereas a 50 filters out 98%. So it isn’t as big a deal as it sounds. I just can’t help wanting everything to be that one percent more! Anyway… HOW CAN I AVOID WHITE CAST?A great application tip to avoid any white cast would be applying this SPF in few thin layers and waiting in between each one until the product is sunk in and no longer visible. This way it will not leave a white cast and the application will be thin and smooth. A SPF 30 Sunscreen that offers broad spectrum protection from both UVA and UVB rays. This 100% Mineral formula, containing Zinc Oxide, is non-greasy and leaves a natural, mattified finish on the skin. To help enhance usability we have added a low level non-cosmetic tint to help counter balance and assist blending into the skin.

Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen Body SPF 40

Have you heard of Polyglutamic Acid? Well, if you haven't, it's a game-changer for your skin! This ingredient can hold up to four times the amount of water compared to hyaluronic acid, which means it will leave your skin looking plump and radiant. It is a key ingredient in the Hydration trio that also includes glycerin and squalane. Together, they are responsible for giving that glow to your skin without the oily or greasy feeling. Is this SPF non-comedogenic? Yes, we tested this product across all skin types and 95% of respondents agreed it was suitable for their skin type.

And, most importantly, the protection factor: Polyglutamic Acid Dewy Sunscreen is formulated to provide a broad-spectrum SPF 30 shield, thanks to common sunscreen ingredients, including avobenozone, ensulizole, octisalate, and octocrylene. Also noting that while this is a chemical sunscreen, it contains no oxybenzone or octinoxate , which are believed to be harmful to coral reefs. It’s no secret that SPF should be used daily and is imperative to protecting skin from UV rays and hyperpigmentation, along with being the best preventative measure for fine lines and wrinkles. We believe our products should be accessible to all, but we will never compromise on quality, ensuring only the best products reach you. Our products are priced to allow you to test and play with ingredients to build your perfect skincare recipe, for your ever-changing skincare needs. IS THIS SAFE TO USE DURING PREGNANCY OR BREASTFEEDING?Yes! You can safely use it when pregnant or breastfeeding. Your guide to pregnancy safe skincare >Founded by Colette Laxton and Mark Curry in 2018, The INKEY List was born from a belief that better knowledge powers better decisions. We know that skincare can be confusing. But we also know that you want to understand more about your skin so you can make the right decisions. In real terms, this means that if unprotected skin would take ten minutes to show signs of burning, then after properly applying SPF 30 sunscreen itwould slow the rate ofsun burnto the point where it would take 30 times longer. What is SPF and how does it work? SPF stands for Sun Protection Factor. It is a measure of how much UV radiation is required to produce sunburn on SPF protected skin compared to the amount of solar energy required to produce sunburn on unprotected skin. As the SPF value increases, sun damage protection increases, protecting the skin from sun burn and photoaging (aging caused by sun rays, i.e. wrinkles, dark spots, etc). It works by either absorbing UV through chemical or organic UV filters to prevent harmful UVA and UVB rays from burning the skin or by reflecting, and scattering UV rays from physical or inorganic filters such as Titanium Dioxide or Zinc Oxide. Additionally you need to have a combination of UVA and UVB filters to ensure a Broad Spectrum Protection.
