Description

As you may have already surmised, this is more of a guessing game than a game of strategy! Some serious game players might be put off by that. But on the plus side, this could be why people who usually don’t like playing games, enjoy this one.

One aspect of Hues and Cues that I want to highlight is just how well this game plays online. In fact, I first discovered this game during the Gen Con Spring Showcase where I watched a group play the game live. Since then I’ve seen several other content creators streaming their plays of Hues and Cues. It seems there are two ways to do this. Hues and Cues plays very simply. One of the players is the first Cue-giver, and will be the one providing cues to the group. I mistakenly said cue more times than I’d like to admit, but the concept is the same. So yes it’s a keeper. It’s just going to be a game that I keep on the game shelves at my office rather than at home. (Yes, I have game shelves at the office…) To make the game easier for younger players, you can choose to use a variant rule. Instead of drawing a card, the players will choose any color they want from the gameboard. This allows players to choose a color that they can give better cues for. The player should write down the coordinates of the color they chose. One-Word CueThe cards have that same glossy finish, making them top-notch as well. Honestly you’d rarely have to shuffle the cards because there are four colors on each, and there are so many of them that you’d never be able to tell if you actually had a duplicate. I also appreciate the savvy design choice to give coordinates to each color and notate those on the cards. It makes finding the colors a breeze. Hues and Cues is the type of party game that we play more like an activity than a game. For us, the points don’t really matter, we’ll play it until we’re board Of course, I will also note that players with color-blindness will find this game relatively inaccessible. The subtle difference between colors is the core of the gameplay, so having any sort of color blindness will make the game very difficult. INTEREST

After choosing the color that they will use for the round, the cue giver has to try and come up with a one-word cue to describe the color they chose. The cue giver for this round chose the color H 15. They decided to give the one word cue “pig”. Not sure what game to buy next? Buy Premium Box » This color game also presents a perfect opportunity to introduce students to the concept of “ local color“. What is local color? The Cue-giver draws a card which has four colors on it. Each of the colors corresponds to a color on the gameboard, which is essentially a gigantic grid of beautiful colors. They choose one of the colors and provide a one-word cue about that color. Most of our game plays have been with 4 or 5 players. But the game has enough color cones for 10 players to join in. And once we get past this COVID era, we’ll give it a shot with 10. Plenty of color cards.Good guessers are rewarded, and good cue-givers are also compensated appropriately for their efforts! Staking Our C.L.A.I.M. on Hues and Cues COMPONENTS I’m reminded of that optical illusion with the dress: some saw it as white others saw it as blue. Okay! Let me ask you this: in your experience, what helps creativity? What lets people have interesting ideas? Or solve problems?
