My long-term experience with my three pairs of Alpinestars J6 shoes has been overwhelmingly positive. This versatility means that my Alpinestars J6 shoes have become my go-to option for a wide range of weather conditions, from rainy spring days to cooler autumn evenings. Quality of materials The flat sole has the Alpinestars logo molded into the soft rubber, the tongue of the boot is padded to protect the front of the foot in an impact and has a small brass tag, about an inch across on the top with the name of the brand. On the side of the shoe, the Italian company’s logo is again present, it being embossed into the leather. It’s all quite subtle but very stylish and gives an inkling as to the quality contained within. Another thing to bear in mind, is that a helmet in say size Medium from one Manufacturer may fit completely differently to a Medium from another Manufacturer. Therefore we would always recommend travelling to a dealer to try a number of different brands to get the perfect fit for your head shape. The waterproof membrane effectively keeps moisture at bay, ensuring that my feet remain dry throughout rainy rides. Moreover, thanks to the localized perforations in their chassis, the Alpinestars J6 shoes do provide some decent breathability allowing one to wear the shoes all year round in good comfort.

The Alpinestars J-6 Waterproof shoe (Cat 2 CE certified to 89/686.ECC EU Directive) boasts a lightweight, street-styled upper combining full grain leather and suede for optimised comfort, durability and look. Waterproofing is afforded by a waterproof membrane subtly built into the chassis for 100 per cent performance against wet penetration. The top tongue and collar are constructed from leather for enhanced comfort, durability and luxurious feel. Metal eyelet lacing closure on instep for an easy, secure and comfortable fit. For all-around strategic protection and flexibility in key areas, dual density ergonomic MX-derived ankle and heel protectors are applied between the upper and padded lining while padding on the tongue and heel area provides high levels of comfort and fit around the ankle and instep. Moulded to the upper is an advanced rubber compound cup sole for stability, grip, support and durability. A reinforced midsole is inserted between the upper and the sole for structural strength and durability. The removable, replaceable and anatomically profiled EVA and Lycra footbed is for added comfort and support. A poorly fitting helmet may not only be uncomfortable, more noisy and may move around when riding if too big or give headaches etc if it is too small, it is also dangerous. A helmet simply will not protect or perform as designed if the head inside it is not snuggly fitted against the impact absorbing material inside the shell. Padding on tongue and heel area provides high levels of comfort and fit around the ankle and instep. br/>•Removable and replaceable EVA and Lycra® foot-bed is anatomically profiled for added comfort and support. For many of us, this devil-may-care attitude won’t fly, either in our minds or in the minds of our bosses but there is a solution out there – urban motorbike shoes. These are designed to look like regular shoes or trainers but have enough protection built in to protect you around town. In many ways, they’re like Kevlar jeans, but for your feet, containing a similar set of compromises. While gripping oomph on dry pavement is good in the Alpinestars J6 shoes, the sneakers’ gripping oomph is pretty mediocre on wet pavement especially once the outsoles start to wear out, although this is pretty common in motorcycle sneakers anyway.

Motorcycle Boots and Helmets

(38) Despite the good safety rating, I’m pretty convinced that I would rather have my full sized TCX S-R1 Sport boot on rather than the Alpinestars J-6 if I were to be involved in an accident. I can really feel the protection of the TCX boot, partly because it does constrict some of my mobility, while the Alpinestars boot is so subtle as to make you forget that there is any protection built in at all.
