Description

The Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature Nipple Shields are made from ultra-thin, soft silicone which is odourless and tasteless for the baby. The shields are also BPA-free for total reassurance. Before you get started, it’s best to make sure that your nipple is full size. You can do this by gently rolling it between your thumb and finger or by putting something cold on it. Remember that just like nipples, all brands of horns are different. Some are soft, some are hard, and all have a slightly different shape and fit. So if one brand doesn’t work at the size you’ve measured, another one may still work. Nipple shields that are too small will not go far enough into your baby’s mouth. This stops deep attachment to the breast. Acts like a second skin: Made from soft, thin and BPA-free silicone, these nipple shields sit comfortably against your skin, so it still feels natural to you and your baby

Made from super-soft, flexible and BPA-free silicone, the Tommee Tippee Made for Me Nipple Shields act like a second skin over your nipple, so it feels natural to you and your baby. It was in the early 60s that a British business man discovered Tommee Tippee and set up a manufacturing unit in Newcastle upon Tyne, UK to produce the baby feeding products of cups and accessories. The original cup was designed by a Doctor with a weighted base which prevented it ‘tippping’ over and was embellished with a picture of a dog owned by the plastic company’s producers called ‘Tommee’; hence the name Tommee Tippee. Today the brand is the number one in the UK and Australian baby essentials market with approximately 65% of its overall sales coming via distribution in international markets reaching over 40 countries. In 2020 it won the'Parenting Brand of the Year' by Made for Mums. They can provide short-term help with breastfeeding problems but can cause your body to produce less milk. Do not leave the nipple shield in direct sunlight or heat, or disinfectant (“sterilising solution”) for longer than recommended, as this may weaken the nipple shield. If your baby is less than 7 days old, they should have at least 2 large yellow poos and 6 heavy wet nappies each day. Close monitoring will help them decide if you're ready to start breastfeeding directly from your breast. Other nipple and breast products It’s important to know that the right horn size for you can change throughout your breastfeeding journey, so remember to keep an eye on how yours fits and feels.

Your whole nipple should fit comfortably without much, if any, of the areola entering the tunnel before you start pumping. We know that breastfeeding isn’t easy for everyone, so we’ve used our 50 years of expertise to develop products and accessories that are specifically designed to help you on your journey.Follow the instructions that come with the shield to put it on correctly. Your baby can't get a proper attachment to your breast if they only have the tip of the shield in their mouth. Position during feeding Microwaveable steriliser and storage case: Complete with a compact and microwaveable steriliser case, you can keep your nipple shields safe and free from germs For safety and hygiene reasons it is recommended that the nipple shield is replaced at least every 2 months. Once you have your measurement in millimetres, add 4mm to this measurement. This is because it’s better to have a larger breast shield diameter than your nipple base size so that when your breast pump is used and creates a vacuum, it’ll make your nipple slightly larger. Having a gap of about 4mm between your nipple and the breast shield allows for your nipple to expand comfortably while you’re pumping. So, if your nipple base measures 20mm across, the correct horn size for you is 24mm. If there are issues with latching or a premature birth they may be recommended for use sooner.
