There are obviously loads of reviews of the 990s on the internet, and although very popular they obviously divide opinion. Now that I'm wearing these headphones for 6-8 hours a day I do begin to notice the weight but it is not neccesarely disturbing.

If you don't want to splurge on Beyerdynamic's updated line of DT PRO X headsets, then this is an absolute steal.

I have use these headphones many times before in the past but thought I would give a quick review of them. With their high-quality materials and meticulous workmanship, these studio headphones are a sound, long-term investment. Close to tuning frequency of the headphone, it shoots up to 350 ohm so your headphone amp needs to also have a very low output impedance as to not impact the frequency response of this headphone.The 880s clamp the head noticeably more lightly than the 990s, but the 990s are more secure on the head. The cable can be a little bulky, and the design of the coiled cable makes it difficult to run under a desk.

I’ve been listening to them mainly through a Little Dot Mk 2 with a combination of Novosibirsk and Mullard 8100 valves (sourcing from a Cyrus Cd and Cyrus 8 DAC amplifier).In addition to a top-notch sound, the DT 990 Pro headphones are extremely comfortable to wear, so there will be no signs of fatigue even after a long period of use. extremely comfortable with velvety ear pads that completely surround the ear and do not touch the ear. The former because footsteps and little sounds that are easy to miss are much easier to hear with these ranges of emphasis, and the latter because mixing with these ranges boosted will lead to less-grating mixes if left unequalized. I have not had a chance to try these with my iPhone 5, or my iPad 3 yet, but I think these headphones probably will not be efficient enough, and will lack volume, but when I get the time to try them out, I will update this review.
