The bergamot, orange, and lemon top notes sparkle with realism, and actually smell juicy (read: not alcoholic). If you're a girl that is big on citrus scents, the way this perfume opens with lots of orange should be to your liking. Nice, but not for those who like the more powdery / incense type fragrances (think Passion or Bal a Versailles).

The 1990's was a very, very strange place for Avon fragrances, particularly in the oft-neglected men's side. If Mesmerize came into this world today in the form of a new release from Byredo or BDK Parfums, for example (I hold both brands in high esteem and am only mentioning them here as examples! Yes, but as with most Avon offerings they are shrill and alcoholic to my nose, with little change in the dry down. today someone at my church had on Angel by TF the original one and I smelled her and I swearrrrr the dry downs on Angel and Mesmerize are the same. If I ever run into this bottle in the future I will surely grab a two or three back ups for the sake of memories, good job to Avon.
