For the past year, James has been broadcasting his own one-man program called 'THe SHINNy SHOw LIVe' where he held honest and frank discussions about his own struggles and what he did to overcome them.

He wants to bring more ‘real life’ to social media, in an age when so many people present a false image of themselves and seek instant gratification. Through these channels, he’s breaking the stigma associated with recovery and making #RECOVERyTHENEWCOOL.During the Q and A at the film premiere, the subject of the 'upside of addiction' came to light. SHINNy is certain that an addictive personality can be a huge positive, if channelled in the right direction. "It [addiction] can manifest itself in other areas. It drives you and boosts the ego." The film follows his life from a youngster on the streets of Manchester to playing for Leeds Rhinos, becoming the undercard for Joe Calzaghe as a professional boxer, and being the lead singer of Salford band Hanky Park before struggling with drug and alcohol addiction. We are very pleased with the win and thought he was on top throughout. Davenport’s final wake-up call came when he feared he would never see eight-year-old Donovan or two-year-old Gracie Lee again. My kids keep me going and get me up in the morning. To know that I might not see them again was not an option. I had to sort myself out. Just three songs have debuted at Number 1 this year (Zayn Malik’s Pillowtalk, Major Lazer, Justin Bieber and MØ’s Cold Water and Little Mix’s Shout Out To My Ex), while all other chart-toppers this year so far have taken an average of over five weeks to reach the summit from the point of entering the Top 100.

The former boxer eventually sought help for his issues and turned his life around in 2017. He now supports others with a recovery show online. The 29-year-old from Pendleton hardly broke sweat as he saw off tough Welshman Mark Phillips 40-35 on points and said he felt like he had not even had a fight.

That takes a big brave person. What’s more, he’s turned his own dark experiences into a positive platform. Through the SHINNy SHOw LIVe, SHINNy and The Recovery Channel team reach more than five million people a month as they discuss mental health issues and talk openly about their daily battles with both addiction and mental health. IT'S a case of one down and many more to go for James 'Shinny' Davenport after his victorious return to the ring. However, there was also a poignant aspect of the material, as he openly talked about his sobriety and recovery from substance abuse. Sponsored by S&P Casuals and Iron Fist, his music is being used as part of the advertising campaign for clothing brand Soul Star, and he is also modelling their autumn/winter range. This year’s Official Christmas Number 1 race begins Friday 16 December with the cut-off point for sales and streams to be counted toward the chart being midnight on December 22. Each show is unique and features a line up of health and wellbeing experts, who offer professional advice and give information about services to viewers tuning in. Martin Talbot, Official Charts Company Chief Executive, said: "It only seems yesterday that the NHS Choir got the nod from Justin Bieber in the race for Christmas Number 1 2015 – but it is so exciting that the annual festive race is almost upon us once again. Who will be the leading contender this year will no doubt only become clear as the starting gun is about to be fired. But, one thing is for sure, the race will be fought as enthusiastically as ever. We can’t wait for it to get underway!" He said: "I was finding my feet a bit in the first round and getting used to it again but after that I was trying to get at him. He kept holding which made it difficult to land any telling punches.
