Description

Her parents always emphasized science and education, so she spent her childhood immersed in Star Trek and odd-smelling library books. For those who haven't read any of the Drowning Empire books, I might only say that this is a fantasy book with a unique world and realistic magic system, very well character development, heartwarming and engaging story. For me, this is truly one of the stand-out epic fantasy series of the last years and I'm curious about the next project Andrea Stewart will present to us in the future. This read is a beautiful adventure, I urge you to read Andrea Stewart where you will fall under the spell of thrilling adventure filled with incredible characters and a solid story. When I got the notification that I received an arc for the ending of this beautiful series, I couldn't believe it.

There's not much I can say without making a lot of huge spoilers for anyone who hasn't read the other two books but it was truly a great ending to this story. However, I do love the way Stewart connected everything to nature and that they would, in a way, still live on forever.

If ossalen give magical powers to humans they bonded with, what's the deal with monks and cloudberries? The book is fast-paced from the very first page as we pick up the story 2 years later as we find Lin and Jovis dealing with the aftermath.

In book one, she was just sort of there and was a bit obtuse, but she went through a wonderful character arc showcasing her strength and love for her family. My Patrons: Alfred, Aliysa, Anastasia, Andrew, Andrew W, Annabeth, Arliss, Barbara, Brad, Cade, Casey, Chris, Diana, Dylan, Edward, Elias, Ellen, Gary, Hamad, Helen, Jenn, Jesse, Jimmy Nutts, Joie, Kristina, Luis, Lufi, Melinda, Michael, Michael, Miracle, Nicholas, Norbert, Radiah, Samuel, Sarah, Sarah, Scott, Shawn, Teri, Tori, Tracy, Wendy, Wick, Xero, Yuri, Zoe. How do you build a story around these concepts and develop them further to make sense in a scope of this world and not just bunch of cool things thrown together? I’m a bit sad to see the series come to an end, but I can’t wait to see what else Andrea Stewart comes out with next.

Some things felt like they were added simply for the plot, things that I don’t remember from previous books just added and it felt like it was aided for plot points in this. This was a perfect finale for the trilogy and tied up all the stories of the characters we've followed well. Yet I couldn’t help but miss the Lin we were presented with in the first book, the one who wanted to help everyone without manipulating them in the way her father did. Through all the upheaval, betrayal, revelations and challenges our characters face these bonds are what grounds them and motivates them to carry on.
