Description

The wraith-constructs in which the Spirit Stones are housed are made from no common material -- they are crafted from wraithbone. At least as strong as ceramite, wraithbone is an organic material -- grown from pure psychic energy, not forged, and able to self-repair over time. Labyrinth Enchantment While the Labyrinth traps have claimed countless adventurers, they were not designed with felines in mind. In many ways, the Wraithknights embody the cyclical symbols of the Aeldari, the curving discs of the Aeldari Lexicon that display a portion of death within life and a portion of life within death. That leaves Rangers, now forward deploying and with some anti-charge tech in the Wireweave Net , as your cheap Troops option. That’s fine , especially with Phantasm to redeploy as needed. You probably want access to a couple of units of these as a Craftworld player, and 3×5 lists probably do happen. This arrangement, which originally arose out of necessity, has over time become an established practice and one of Iyanden's greatest strengths, allowing elements of the craftworld's Ghost Warrior host that are scattered across the battlefield to operate with a coordination that far outstrips that of the living.

Ulthwe and Biel-Tan stand out as the best competitive options among the named Craftworlds, with Alaitoc maybe getting there as well. Corsair Voidscarred give access to the stranger weirdos from the new kit, and probably end up most interesting for Drukhari.Let’s take a hypothetical Dreadnought versus Wraithlord comparison. As I said, they cost about the same overall and are armed with similar weapons- two Bright Lances vs Fist + Twin Lascannon is an obvious comparison, but there are plenty of other loadouts that work out to be pretty similar as well, so I think the juxtaposition is very apt. Now, right out of the gates, the Wraithlord has one higher toughness- that makes it not only resistant to small arms (which, having only a 3+ save on both models, is a nontrivial factor) but also to Autocannons, Plasma weapons, Missile Launchers, and many others. However, let’s set that aside and look at the issue of the degrading profile itself. In terms of equipment, Shining Spears are typically armed with a laser lance, a powerful weapon that can cut through even the toughest enemy armor. They also carry a shuriken pistol, which allows them to engage enemy forces at range if necessary. The name Skathach is possibly a reference to Scáthach, a legendary Scottish warrior-woman who trained the hero Cú Chulainn. Painting Biel-Tan well means not only mastering painting white, but also being able to freehand the thorny vines that wind over their armor. It’s a daunting paint job particularly for new players, but the results can look spectacular. Silks’ Method Credit: Silks

While different Aeldari armies might choose to focus on specific aspects of the combat arts, they have a host of iconic units at their disposal. These are likely to be some of your mainstays. Farseer Summoned into being by the necromantic processes of the Asuryani Spiritseers, only a true hero of the Aeldari people has psychic power enough to animate the gigantic wraithbone shell of a Wraithlord. Should the Wraithlord fall in battle, the Spirit Stone will be recovered and either placed onto another Ghost Warrior construct, or be returned to the Infinity Circuit.

These robots were controlled by the guiding intelligence of the soul housed within their Spirit Stones, while the robots themselves were constructed from a substance known as Stelhene, a plastic compound that made them invisible to most forms of active and passive sensors. This Stelhene composition combined with a form of internal energy shielding to allow a Ghost Warrior to remain invisible to all but the naked eye. If that type of roll involves more than one D6 (e.g. a Psychic test), treat one of those dice as an unmodified roll of 6 (do not roll that dice), then roll any other dice and add up the results as normal. To add to this boxed set, we’re going to add a few extra units that’ll give the army a bit more play (especially onto Space Marines). Boon: The secondaries I think are where this codex is going to struggle the most competitively. This is extra hard because I think secondaries are more important now than ever with the increased scoring on primary vs last year (all primaries are capable of netting 63 points vs 60 previously, one less Domination mission). The army just won’t have the throw-away action units many have for reliable secondaries like RND and doesn’t want to be over-extended for things like Engage. Psychic Interrogation is an extremely enticing secondary, but it also requires concessions in list construction or on table play that could be hamstringing the army. Without a strong reliable option out of the codex, I think the army will be forced to select against the opponent’s army which rarely leaves good options in competitive play.

If it specialized in combat support, the Ghost Warrior's energy core will instead be rerouted to power a devastating array of heavy weaponry. Wraiths are mostly terrifying but expensive, though Wraithlords may have some pretty efficient builds. A Wraithseer is a unique and rare type of Eldar Ghost Warrior, a Wraithbone construct empowered by the soul of a deceased Eldar contained within a Spirit Stone. [1] OverviewSurprise Assault for Warp Spiders gives them an extra shot per gun the turn they come in from deep strike, which helps maximise the chance of them landing the kind of blow their hefty price tag demands. A Dark Enemy (232.M41) - In the aftermath of a battle on Cullrak, in which the Asuryani of Mymeara successfully fight off a daemonic incursion, a huge raiding party from the Drukhari Kabal of the Fiend Ascendant threatens a clutch of the Asuryani's Spirit Stones. It is greatly feared that the Kabal will retreat to Commorragh and debase the souls of Mymeara's dead. With their numbers already considerably depleted from the previous battle, the Asuryani of Mymeara have little choice but to command their Spiritseers to unleash the Ghost Warriors in their defence. The wraith-constructs launch one of the most vengeful strikes in the craftworld's history and numerous Kabalite Warriors and their Raiders are incinerated by searing Wraithknight plasma blasts. While gigantic and heavily armed with a mixture of mighty Heavy Wraithcannons, Suncannons, Ghostglaives, Scattershields, and other heavy weapons, the Wraithknight's advanced design still allows it to be nimble enough to run through the ruin of a scattered city. The shell of a Wraithknight houses the spirits of the dead much in the same way as the Wraithlord and Wraithguard. However, Wraithknights differ from their lesser cousins as they also hold a living Eldar pilot within. [1] Generally, it feels like both Saim-Hann and Iyanden will be much more interesting in Incursion style games – if you want to centre your army around the units they support then they’ll feel very cool, but they don’t bring the breadth of impact you want for Strike Force. Chaos Thwarted (899.M41) - A vast Word Bearers Traitor Legion voidship storms out of the Eye of Terror and sets a path towards Craftworld Il-Kaithe. In response, the Asuryani release their Ghost Warriors aboard the monstrous vessel. Battle rages within its cavernous corridors for several solar weeks, the Ghost Warriors enduring ferocious firepower from scores of Daemon Engines. Eventually, the tide of battle turns when, in one of the ship's rancid landing bays, three Il-Kaithe Wraithknights engage in combat with a debased Chaos Feral-class Titan. They finally blast it into the void of space and then begin the methodical slaughter of the remaining Chaos forces.
