Telestrations is a fun favourite among the whole family, and I'm sure it will be making an appearance after Boxing Day dinner once again this year. A nice light option for any board game beginners, Telestrations begins with the roll of a die which instructs each player to sketch a particular word at the mercy of a sand timer. At the end of a player's turn, if that player has more than 10 crystals on his caravan, he must return the exceeding crystals of his choice to the diamond-shaped bowls.

If nobody or everybody guesses the correct card, the storyteller scores 0 points, and each other player scores 2 points. Otherwise, the storyteller and whoever found the correct answer score 3 points, and additionally the non-storyteller players score 1 point for every vote received by their card. Keeping an eye on your opponent’s crystal reserves is essential, because you may notice that they will reach your shared goal first and therefore be able to change your plans, or that no one else is anyway near that points card so you can start building for the next one too. Game Turn

If you claim the leftmost or second leftmost Point card, take one copper or silver token from above that card. If you take the last copper token, slide the pile of silver tokens so it is now above the leftmost Point card. To claim a Point card, you must have all of the crystals shown on the Point card in your caravan. Return those crystals to the diamond-shaped bowls. Take the Point card and place it face down in front of you. Kicsit összetettebb, de még nem nagyon gamer: Village, Champions of Midgard, Glory: A Game of Knights, Caylus 1303 I take the first turn of our first game and the first - and thus free - card lets me "upgrade" any three crystals. And Century: Golem Edition begins to unfold. Turns stream by so fast that we end up in a traffic jam when one player is active before the previous one has taken their crystals. My three-upgrade card proves so flexible that it wins me the game. Everyone thinks this is most unfair. Another recommendation from my wife, who it turns out was physically incapable of being limited to one board game, Dixit is something a little different and is sure to bring out your creative side. On each turn in Dixit one player is the storyteller, and they must choose one of the six cards in their hand, make up a sentence based on that card's image, and say it out loud without showing the card to the other players. The top two tiles contain the four, all-important Golem locations where you can trade the right combination of crystals for the points-gaining Golems. All the rest are workable. Up to half of these start covering up.

Setup

A külsejét tekintve szőrszálhasogató leszek, de a trilógia első része magasra tette a lécet. Itt is szépek a kártyák, de már nem egyedi minden gólemkártya. A központi tábla nem is tábla, inkább nagyon vékony papírlapokból tákoljuk össze. Továbbra is kellemes a szemnek, de úgy tűnik, mintha a kiadó itt már spórolt volna a minőségen. Saving the best till last, this is my personal favourite. Not only is it fun and easy to play on a weekend or after work, but it's a really stunning game too - from the gorgeous Golem illustrations to the multi-coloured crystals and elaborate coins that each player uses.
