Prose and part-rhyme make this a lovely book to read aloud, and the illustrations by Mei Matsuoka are lively and bright.

The story of a child turning into their favorite food is as timeless as idle parental threats and older siblings. Chased by a pack of hungry dogs, Benny escapes into a field only to be confronted by a herd of cows - who point out that Benny is made from. I was a big fan of The Narnia books by C S Lewis, Michael Hardcastle’s football stories and Enid Blyton’s Famous Five series My favourite books of all were a Mannchester United Football Year Book from 1969 signed “To Alan from George Best” (my all-time hero) and Meriol Trevor's The King of the Castle that I came across quite by chance looking along a library shelf one day. The story shows that a hamburger diet affects not just the burger eater when a herd of cows angrily stampede after the Burger Boy with the line, "Do you know where hamburgers come from? A boy who eats nothing but burgers - I can relate - soon turns into one, and has the whole town chasing after him.
