They talk about everything and nothing, when they bump into ex colleague Topsy a rather strong character with failing health due to Alzheimer’s disease setting in they never dreamed that a week later that Topsy would be no more. This isn't a psychological drama so if you're looking for another Girl on the Train or Gone Girl this isn't it. There is also a real sense of the way in which people may seek to take advantage of those who may naturally be more trusting, or perhaps just less aware, of the risks of modern life. She is with her daughter Kelly Anne who is quick to disappear when her phone rings and the three friends realise Topsy seems to be struggling with the early signs of dementia.

A Spoonful of Murder‘ is oftentimes fabulously witty and I absolutely adored these characters, who managed to make me chuckle out loud. The story is not trying to be anything it isn’t - it is a beautifully written, good old cosy story and amen to that.
