There's still room for hope, Yorke seems to be saying; there's still time to wake up and take charge of our lives rather than living at the disposal of dubiously motivated leaders, corporations and conglomerates. At nearly an hour in length, the album is the band's longest, with many of it's songs within the two-to-three-minute range, shorter than the band's average. The fact that these are some of the most heartrendingly beautiful songs they've ever recorded only adds power and pathos.

I have been collecting these 2 CD DVDs from Pablo Honey up to Hail to the Thief and yet more beautiful music from Yorke and the gang has been produced, my only dissapointment was in the DVD which was a little lacking in body, especially when you compare it with The Bends, the bonus material almost double the content of the main disc, with tons live vids and alternate takes on the DVD, yet hail to the thief only had about 15 mins of content. Instead, they use eloquent metaphors and complicated arrangements to express the uncertainty, fear and anger arising from the 2000 US presidential election and a post-9-11 world.
