The story was really enjoyable. It was funny. My niece really enjoyed the spells. And she thought that it would be cool if it was real (that your mom could turn into a fairy). We all waited. But Mummy Fairy’s spots didn’t go away and her nose was still runny. Her wings drooped even further.Ella's family has a big secret - her mummy is a fairy! She can do amazing spells with her computawand. Only, sometimes the spells go a bit wrong, and that's when Ella steps in to the rescue. Both Ella and her Fairy mother learn a lot from their madcap adventures and I hope my readers will absorb these lessons too. But most of all I hope that anyone who reads these stories will smile, laugh, enjoy… and let a little magical sparkle into their life! The narrator is Ella. Her mom looks like a regular mom most of the time. But she can turn into a fairy. Ella has a bratty next door neighbor Zoe. Neither me nor my niece liked Zoe at all. She was very mean.

Sophie’s latest novel, Surprise Me, published in February 2018, presents a humorous yet moving portrait of a marriage—its intricacies, comforts, and complications. Surprise Me reveals that hidden layers in a close relationship are often yet to be discovered. I read this story with my daughter. She really enjoyed it and didn't want me to stop. It was also easy for her to read out loud to me. We're already excited about the next book in this new series. Sophie Kinsella truly understands a child's voice and what would interest young readers. The illustrations were really cute and my daughter laughed out loud from them. I am delighted to introduce my first ever book for young children. It’s a project which began at my own children’s bedtimes, as I invented the characters of Ella and her Fairy mother for them. I heard them laugh, enjoyed each story with them, and soon decided to bring my creation to a wider audience. Ella's mom was really sweet, but in many ways she was a hot mess. She was really bad at doing magic. So everything she tries to do ends up all wonky. My niece really loved this book. She hated when we had to stop reading to go out. And she begged me to start again when we got home. Also we didn't have time to finish it the first day. When she came over the next day she immediately wanted to read it. She was sad when it ended and was happy to see that there would be a book two in the series. Mummy doesn’t like rest. She likes working hard and having fun and being busy. As soon as the doctor had gone she got out of bed. Looking very wobbly, she stamped her feet three times, clapped her hands, wiggled her bottom and said, ‘Marshmallow’ . . . and POOF! she was Mummy Fairy. But her wings were all dull and droopy, and her crown didn’t shimmer. She tried all the different medicines in the cupboard, but nothing worked. At last Daddy called the doctor. Then she pointed her Computawand at herself, pressed a code – bleep-bleep- bloop – and said, ‘Cooleridoo!’

Mummy Fairy and Me/Fairy Mom and Me - Sophie Kinsella

Fairy Mom and Me is the first book in a new children's series by one of my favorite authors, Sophie Kinsella. But I’m sure I can cure myself,’ she said, putting me down again. ‘I just need to find the right spell. Look, here’s a cure for spots. Spotseridoo!’ She pressed a code on her Computawand – bleep-bleep-bloop – and all her spots disappeared. Min dotter Lily (6 år) och jag läste den här boken tillsammans som godnattsaga. Varm och komisk. Den bjöd på en del skratt. Perfekt bok om man gillar magi och den berör även vardagsämnen som vänner, grannar och skolidrott. In this book of enchanting adventures, Mummy Fairy and Ella decorate the kitchen with magic colouring pencils, catch a robber on Ella's school trip - and swim with real mermaids! Sophie Kinsella has sold over 40 million copies of her books in more than 60 countries, and she has been translated into over 40 languages.Dennoch mochte ich die Protagonistin und die nicht-perfekte-Feen-Mama sehr gerne. Auch die Ansätze, was den Umgang mit fiesen Mitschülern oder Fair Play bei Wettkämpfen angeht, fand ich toll. Beautiful were the morals that the author tried to engrave into her little audience, and especially at the end where the protagonist did not like cheating and preferred upholding a trust.
