Richard and Kahlan followed the compass until it led them to a valley protected by magic that held the stone for thousands of years. Although they were trying to remove it, they made it so the compass stopped moving and they couldn't get out of the valley. Zedd used the spell of taking to remove it from the valley, but Cara, who had been rebroken by Darken Rahl, took the stone from Zedd, who had to perform the spell of undoing on Dahlia to make it so she was never there to capture Cara so she was never rebroken and never took the stone from Zedd.

The novel series continues with the tale of the three characters out on quests to fight evil and bring justice into the new world. Their quests are faced with significant challenges sometimes life threatening but in most instances they emerge victoriously. The writer uses fantasy and epic creations to create a whole new world that is exciting to read about. The vivid description gives the reader a real life perception of the events that are taking place in the novel series. She had seen animals in the woods before, rabbits and raccoons and squirrels and such, but this was bigger. It was as big as her, maybe bigger. Bears were dark. She wondered if it could be a bear. Rating: 5 stars. It has its flaws but I'm just going to go ahead and leave my 5 star teen nostalgia rating intact. This series used to be my absolute favourite and it turns out even a reread cannot taint my fond memories of my early reads all that much. As it happens I found Stone of Tears super readable and quite engaging even this time around so it would have earned a 4-4.5 star rating from me anyway! The thing grinned at her, showing long, sharp teeth. Her breath caught in her throat. Its shoulders shook. It was laughing. Rachel's eyes were as big as they would go. She could hear her heartbeats making a whooshing sound in her ears.Zedd nodded. "It did. But I don't want to say what I think it is until I'm sure. At least not out loud."

They arrived at the village of the Mud People and asked its leader, the Bird Man, knowing a little of the Mud People's language, to bring the parents of this boy.It can be guessed that the ancient Aes Sedai put many Wards to prevent the possibility to Travel directly inside the Stone (but the loss of this Talent made them useless, and the wards progressively went off, without anybody noting it). Alternatively, we can theorize the presence of a no longer functioning Dreamspike. There's some big animal in the trees. I think it might be a bear, or worse. I think you might need to take out your sword and go have a look." When the wizard started walking again, it stopped by a short, vine-covered wall, watching. Fat vines ripped off the wall by themselves and grew suddenly longer. They whipped around the dark thing as it stood there, tangling all around it. Zedd was almost up with them. The rest of the time, the hero finds the girl and lovingly transfixes her on his mighty sword. No, really. I'm not sure why these authors always end up feeling as if they have to dump their sex fetish issues at this particular juncture: "Huh, I dig BDSM. Maybe I should confide my fantasies in a book for mass publication". Richard and Kahlan must face Rahl and the Keeper's terrible minions. But first, Richard must endure the ministrations of the Sisters of the Light, or die from the pain of magic that is his birthright and his curse. While Richard undertakes the arduous journey to the forbidden city of the Sisters, Kahlan must embark upon a long and dangerous mission to Aydindril, citadel of the old wizards, where she hopes to find Zedd and the help only he can lend to their desperate cause.
