Description

Sarah Parish in Stay Close on Netflix, in a scene shot at Northern Lawn Tennis Club in West Didsbury Three people are given the opportunity to revisit the past and maybe right old wrongs. But they are not the only ones taking an interest in the new disappearance. And those others who are trying to find answers have no scruples or qualms about their methods. The gorgeous Victorian mansions of the Shaw family and the home of Sarah Green were both filmed around the corner from each other in Didsbury. Seventeen years ago, in Atlantic City, Stewart Green disappeared, an event which profoundly affected the lives of several people: Green's wife was devastated and the lead cop in the investigation, Detective Broom - who befriended Mrs. Green - is still obsessed with the case; Cassie, an entertainer at a club named La Crème who was involved with Green, gave up her old life, changed her name to Megan, and became a suburban wife and mother; and Ray Levine, Cassie's boyfriend at the time, became an alcoholic with a shameful (in his eyes) job as a fake papparazzi. Summary and reviews of Stay Close by Harlan Coben - BookBrowse

In episode two, we're introduced to a mysterious duo known as Barbie and Ken. But, despite their names, they're certainly not friendly characters – they're hitmen hired to kill off key witnesses and people involved in the missing person cases. Harry brokers a meeting for Megan. Broome takes a leap in his personal life. Ray is questioned by the police as he tries to piece together his memories.

Who are the Barbie and Ken killers in Stay Close?

I don’t think that I have read a Harlen Coben before, although I may be wrong, but I am going to make an effort to read more of him, not because I particularly enjoyed this one, I didn’t, but I have a sneaking suspicion this is not him at his best. This book is about three people with huge secrets that no one knows or would suspect. Megan is a soccer mom with a secret wild past. Ray was once talented documentary photographer, but now poses as a paparazzo. Lastly Detective Broome with an obsession to a cold case. In the opening episode we can expect to see a very prominent scene set in West Didsbury's Northern Lawn Tennis Club. At the heart of the drama is the lapdancing club Vipers where sinister things are afoot - and where Megan used to work as her alter-ego dancer Cassie. This is one audiobook that I absolutely do NOT recommend. I think the instructions to the narrator were "try to sound cool" which I guess was interpreted as try to sound bored. Even the exciting portions of the book were read off in this sing song kind of way.

Stay Close - Harlan Coben

The Character: Megan has spent the past 17 years rebuilding her life: a husband-to-be, kids, a nice house. But when a man with potential ties to another missing-person case from — you guessed it —17 years ago disappears, her shiny new life begins to unravel. The heroine keeps reminiscing how great her life as a stripper was! I guess she should put that in her LinkedIn profile. As her wedding approaches, Megan Pierce is troubled by a visitor from her past. Det. Mike Broome finds a new disappearance reminiscent of a cold case.In a nutshell, this is an enthralling yet entertaining crime thriller that will better be enjoyed by general readers instead of the dedicated fans of the crime fiction genre. While Coben's original book was set in Atlantic City, New Jersey in America, it was all set on location here in the north west of England for the Netflix take on the story.
