We’ve never gotten a Balrog depicted in LEGO Lord of the Rings, so this makes for a great pairing with Gandalf, who faced off on the Bridge of Khazad-dûm in Moria, One thing I didn’t really like about Frodo is the massive sword that they’ve given him. The hilt is slightly more accurate to Sting, his Elven sword, but the shape of the blade is completely off.In true British fashion, this LEGO set embraces the rich heritage of the English language, with spellings such as 'colour', 'centre', and 'metre'. Aragorn has a printed 2×4 tile on his chest, with his coronation armour bearing the symbol of the Reunited Kingdom of Gondor and Arnor, which is really nice. I understand the design choice to go with a plain green dress, but I think there was a lost opportunity here to really commit, and have her entire dress printed, or at the very least, the upper half to really pay homage to the delicate Elven details on her dress. Frodo’s hair is is pretty basic, and nothing to write home about, with plenty of studs to convey texture and his signature curly hair. Gandalf the Grey appears fairly simple from the front. The wizard's garb is extremely plain, while his beard is assembled using a variety of curved slopes and 1x1 quarter circle tiles. Light bluish grey elements neatly link the beard with Gandalf's long hair, which is where this figure begins to improve. This LEGO set is not only a fantastic addition to your personal collection, but it also makes for a wonderful gift. Both variants are armed with a staff which can use magic, and a sword. Gandalf the Grey's staff is brown with a gem on top, and Gandalf the White's is entirely white. Building a helmet out of Lego at half scale for 50-70€ feels stupid when I could get a true scale replica for more or a fully articulated action figure for half. Lego sculptures are nice jokes but not really items to keep forever. Figures give you the ability to make scenes and pose your stuff in a multitude of ways. Having a collection of things that just stand there and don't truly interact with each other is the most boring thing possible just after collecting trading cards or postmarks just to put them into books, not even really displaying any of them. Though looking at reddit most people seem to just buy stuff and cram it unto shelves without any motive for the display, be it helmet collection, Lego Star Wars vehicles, action figures, movie prop replicas or anything else really."
