Description

Home to both Mews Accommodation and a Touring Park, Oakwood Farm Chester offers its guests retreats that are close to nature at competitive, affordable price points. As we read Chester's Way we thought about how Chester and Wilson didn't really give Lilly a chance... they disliked her right away because she was different. Chester is the neighborhood Weird Kid. Clearly. He always does things in his own special and particular way. So does his friend, Wilson. They double knot their shoelaces. They use handsignals on their bikes. They never swing at the first pitch. They always carry extra bandaids. The carefully crafted wine list complements the array of menus with an eclectic choice of wines from all over the world . use the Ways We Can Talk Anchor Chart speech bubbles (You may want to have the students add these bubbles during the beginning part of the lesson. Select a few to start with for this lesson and more to the anchor chart as you review and practice the strategy with subsequent texts)

Guided by an authentic Roman soldier, discover Chester as it was during its time as the Deva Victrix with Roman Tours. From the locations of key fortress buildings to strict gender roles, and from grooming habits to cutting-edge entertainment, these fresh, factual, and light-hearted tours are certain to leave you with new perspectives on the Roman era of history! Feel free to ask your designated guide additional questions about the era too, they will happily share this knowledge! Finally, The Chester Grosvenor also houses a magnificent Spa complete with a Thermal Suite and ELEMIS treatments to name a few!

Henkes' loving look at conventional, fearful Chester and non-conforming Lilly gives the reader a gentle way to examine his or her own comforts and challenges. Chester and Wilson's reaction to Lilly at first is one that most readers have felt for newcomers and everyone is relieved when Lilly breaks through the barriers. Although his characters are mice, they are very obviously ourselves in fur and whiskers. We have got such a rich diversity of businesses and people that come here. It's wonderful to be here on the Rows. It's such a unique part of our rich heritage.

Then Lilly moves in, with HER special way of doing things. And Chester and Wilson avoid her like the plague. Seriously. But she saves the day with water guns when some bigger boys decide to taunt Chester and Wilson (it's the hand signals), and they discover that her own weird way of doing things isn't so bad - and that they have a lot in common with her as well. So they become friends.

R: Support students as they work in partner groups and practice the Smart Partner, turn and talk strategy. Also support students as they work to represent in pictorial and/or written format a main idea for the beginning, middle and end of the text in their graphic organizer. Yesterday, we practiced our listening skills during our reading lesson with the text, Chester's Way. We learned that good readers retell to show that they understand the important parts of the story. Today, you are going to practice retelling again, but this time, we are going to build your speaking and listening skills as you work with a partner. We call this activity, Smart Partners, because we can learn a lot from each other when we listen.

On White Water trips, please wear a bathing suit to go under your wetsuit (provided). Calm Water trip-goers should simply wear clothes they don’t mind getting wet. All kayakers should wear open toe footwear and bring a spare pair of shoes. Northgate Street Row here is so well kept. It's beautiful and we've got such beautiful businesses like the Brides of Chester next door and Shrub at the end. We do get asked about the history of the Rows and why they were built an awful lot. We have done a lot of research ourselves but if people have any further questions then we send them up to the Visitor Information Centre, where Isabel and her team are lovely and so helpful.

Kevin Henkes created a wonderful story about friendship in Chester's Way. The story begins by describing Chester, a young personified mouse who likes everything a certain way. His best friend Wilson has very similar interests, and they do everything together. When Lilly moves into their neighborhood, Chester and Wilson do not quite know what to make of her strange way of doing things. When she tries to befriend them, they find ways of ignoring her.
