They were at least on a par with Georgie Fame’s Blue Flames but I would maintain were capable of greater variation.

I like most of Adam Faith’s output, despite the overt BH affectation but I would not place most of his repertoire in the upper tier of Buddy imitations, of which so many originated in the land who celebrated and appreciated him most, Great Britain. Ref. Mike Berry, I think I saw him once, down the bill a bit to Jerry Lee somewhere in South London, in a cinema type venue, the distinguishing feature of which was fruit machines along the sides near the stage.

But Cliff Bennett and the Rebel Rousers bequeathed to the world a simply glorious body of music. That is all that matters. Just listen and put any prejudices along the lines of “can blue men sing the whites” to one side.
