Description

This book is the perfect tool to teach little children that although some people look slightly different, we are all humans, and no-one should be shunned for looking different. We had to tidy up the story, make it shorter, simpler. My editors and I worked on the text on and off for months. I must have about It is a touching, inspirational story that would make the perfect bedtime story, or one for a teacher to read to their class. As Suzy and her friends prepare the tree on Christmas Eve, Suzy notices something missing and sets off in search of a Christmas Star to complete the decorations. The bugs are looking curious. They’ve found something, but what is it? And what are they saying? “Du iz tak?”

Blue Penguin makes up a song about his dream whale, which he sings. Little Penguin hears him singing his song and asks Blue Penguin to teach her his song. I wish the other penguins would have decided to accept Blue Penguin because they realized the error of their ways rather — perhaps through Blue Penguin’s relationship with Little Penguin — than because they discovered he had a special ability. Nevertheless, his finally being embraced by his group was heartwarming.LoveReading4Kids exists because books change lives, and buying books through LoveReading4Kids means you get to change the lives of future generations, with 25% of the cover price donated to schools in need. Petr Horacek's dreamy Blue Penguin [is] a nice enough story, but what really makes this book sing are Horacek's amazing illustrations, all ice and snow with occasional vivid sightings of an orange-coloured sun. November 2016 Book of the Month There are some breathtakingly beautiful illustrations in Petr Horacek’s new picture book, and a story to bring a lump to the throat. Blue Penguin does the same things that the other penguins do but, because of his colour, they don’t regard him as a ‘real’ penguin. Excluded and alone on the ice, Blue Penguin dreams of a white whale that will come and rescue him. He sings a song to the whale and another penguin hears it, and becomes his friend. His singing wins over the other penguins too and when the whale does arrive, she finds the little penguin surrounded by friends. It’s a story to warm us all and Petr Horacek’s rich, colour-saturated, textured artwork creates Antarctic landscapes that are simply magnificent. ~ Andrea Reece You should see this image I have in my head. Singing your made up song about your white whale savior and going dramatically up a cliff to sing it across the sea all sad-like and all the penguins are listening to you!? Please. *rolls eyes* Penguin Book Cover Inspired Art | Love Gifts | Valentine's Gift | Book Lovers | Love Quotes | Wall Art | Wall Decor | One-of-a-kind ArtGet in the Christmas spirit early with this stunningly illustrated book by award-winning illustrator Petr Horacek. [...] A charming and engaging book about friendship, understanding and belonging, this heart-warming story is just the thing to help promote positive behaviour in your young child and send him soundly off to sleep. Junior Summary: Blue Penguin feels alone because the other penguin don't think that he's normal. I mean, he's blue! Not sure what he would have done with the whale or where exactly she would have taken him, anyway. Was this a metaphor for committing suicide? I don't know.

Blue Penguin by Petr Horáček | Goodreads

The pictures are gorgeous, and in my opinion they are the only thing that saves this book from being one star. Far away, near the South Pole, a blue penguin as born ... 'Are you a real penguin?' asked the other penguins. 'I feel like a penguin,' said Blue Penguin ... 'But you're not like us,' said the other penguins." Peter and Paul are the best of friends, until one day while they are diving for fish, Peter is caught in a storm and swept out to sea alone. Thankfully, a kind blue whale is on hand to help him find his friend again - the only problem is that Peter has forgotten to tell him that Paul is a puffin, just like him. A penguin is born with a rare color mutation. Despite the fact that he does the same penguin things as everyone else in his colony, he is still an outcast. I don't even know if this is what Petr Horáček was trying to get at, honestly. He says, "I had a friend who didn't quite fit in with others, and I found him rather inspiring." So... ???
