It seems like Cambridge have raised the bar again with their new AX range and the value for money has proven to be absolutely top notch. If you want a bit of everything from your hi-fi but are on a limited budget, the AXR85 surely has to be one to listen to with your own ears. As ever, if it sounds like the piece of the puzzle that you’re looking for why not make an appointment at your local Richer Sounds for a demo? The Speaker A/B button on the front panel and remote control allows the two sets of speakers to be toggled on and off. Refer to the Front Panel or Remote Control section of this manual for more information on the Speaker A/B operation. Use either the Volume Up/Down buttons on the remote control, or the Volume control on the front panel of your unit to change the volume level. The newly selected level will be indicated briefly on the front display.

Use the ' Skip / Scan' button or ' Preset' buttons to select the preset location for the station to be stored to. First, I’ll go over the things both product ranges have in common. With four models in each lineup, I thought it was pretty neat that Cambridge Audio decided to give both series the same cosmetic appearance, so you can easily mix and match them. All eight products come in a new lunar gray finish and have a floating look from the front. All of the amplifiers and the receivers use their classic toroidal power transformer for better sound.

The front panel offers up a real headphone amp and another mini plug analog input. Bass, treble, and balance controls can be accessed via the menu or remote. This is the perfect amp to pair with a good set of bookshelf speakers to create an excellent starter analog audio system. With plenty of inputs for other sources, you get the excellent Cambridge Audio British sound. Cambridge Audio AXR stereo receiver AXR85 Having said that, the AXA35 arguably sounds clearer and has a more neutral tonal balance, doing more than enough to justify a five-star rating at this price point. It looks and sounds the part, and if this is just a hint of what the rest of the Cambridge Audio’s AX range has to offer, we’re in for a sonic treat.

After making any connections to your unit, activate the AXR by pressing the Power On button on the front of the unit. Naturally, a matching infrared remote control is included in the scope of delivery to ensure convenient control in addition to operation directly on the device. When Auto mode has been selected, press the reverse ‘Skip/Scan’ button to scroll down through the station frequencies or press the forward ‘Skip/Scan’ button to scroll up through the station frequencies. At the heart of the new Cambridge Audio AXR100D is a stereo integrated amplifier, which should have sufficient power reserves to operate even stand-alone speaker systems, in any case fine compact bookshelf speaker systems, effortlessly. Two times 100 Watts are available here at loudspeaker systems with an impedance of 8 Ohm. A typical living room is thus easily provided with adequate sound, and should even more bass be desired, an additional subwoofer can of course be controlled via a corresponding pre-amplifier output. As with the previous Cambridge Audio AX Series solutions, the developers of the new Cambridge Audio AXR100D have of course opted for the modern design language with a modern touch that has been cultivated by the English hi-fi manufacturer for some time, with only the Lunar Grey version being offered here. Note: To add another Bluetooth device, Press and hold the Bluetooth/Phono button to disconnect the current connection and repeat step 2. Select the Tuner source using the FM/AM button on the front of the unit, or directly by pressing the FM or AM buttons on the remote. When using a banana plug, make sure the speaker terminals are completely tightened before inserting the plug. Most stereo receivers that have been released in the past few years have built-in streaming capabilities — but they are anything but equal. The older (or cheaper) models generally just support Bluetooth, but they likely don't support higher-resolution option like Bluetooth aptX HD. And then the newer (and more expensive) models add streaming over Wi-Fi (such as AirPlay or Chromecast built-in), which allows you to stream lossless-quality audio as well as integrate your stereo setup into a larger multi-room system with your other wireless speakers or soundbars. Phono input

Press the Source button on the front of the unit corresponding to your desired source. Alternatively, you may use the appropriate button on the remote control. Naturally for a receiver, the 85-watt AXR85 has FM/AM tuners, which is bolstered by a built-in Bluetooth receiver, three analogue RCA inputs, a phono stage and a 3.5mm aux input. Recording, subwoofer and 6.3mm headphone outputs are correct and present too. More uniquely at this price, the AXR85 boasts two zones for driving two pairs of speakers simultaneously. It is possible to change the tuner region settings for this unit. This can be necessary if the unit has been moved to a different country. The amps and receivers in the CX and AX series all use very high-quality speaker binding posts, which is pretty amazing to see on something as inexpensive as a CXA35. The front panel layout is also super clean and comfortable to figure out. As I said, they match in color, but the layouts are done in the same style to make mixing and matching within the lines no issue from a cosmetic standpoint. Let’s look at the different models to help you find the best match for your system. Cambridge Audio AXA35 Consult the instructions of the Bluetooth device to connect to AXR. When successfully connected the display will show your device name.Isolate one of the ground paths with an isolation transformer, common mode choke, optical coupler, balanced circuitry, or frequency selective grounding. If your loudspeakers are equipped with two sets of terminals, then it is possible to connect them in the bi-wire configuration. If you are having problems connecting your Bluetooth device to the AXR, please try the following troubleshooting steps:
