Description

The Lenovo Chromebook Flex 3 features a MediaTek MT8183 processor. This processor is an 8-core processor with a cache memory of 2 MB. Also, as a 2-in-1 Chromebook, the hinges permit the lid and display to bend up to 360 degrees. As a result, you can use the Lenovo Chromebook Flex 3 in four different modes.

Having said all that, let us discuss the laptop’s weight and dimensions. The Lenovo Chromebook Flex 3 weighs just 1200 g and measures 285 x 202.7 x 17.5mm (W x D x H). Alas, if you think that Lenovo has stumbled upon some hidden exception to the rules of physics and economics to fit such high-end features into a tiny enclosure at a palatable asking price, think again. The Flex 3's most significant compromise is its cramped, dim 11.6-inch HD display. Yes, you can touch it, but with a brightness of just 250 nits and a resolution below the 1080p (full HD) that we consider adequate for budget laptops, it's not all that pleasing a panel to look at. The Lenovo Chromebook Flex 3 comes with an integrated ARM Mali-G72 MP3 graphics card. This graphics card has a standard frequency of 850 MHz. Having said all that, I would have loved to share the CrystalDiskMark benchmark test result of this Chromebook to know its storage performance. However, because the Chrome OS that Chromebooks use doesn’t support this benchmark test, I wasn’t able to obtain the laptop’s result. After thorough consideration, I will rate the Lenovo Chromebook Flex 3 a seven out of ten in this processor review section. Lenovo Chromebook Flex 3 Memory (RAM) Performance Review Limits:Limit 5 per customer. Offers valid from Lenovo in the US only. Lenovo may increase or decrease these limits, from time to time, for certain offerings. In conclusion, the Lenovo Chromebook Flex 3 offers a decent design and a sturdy build. Also, the laptop features a touchscreen display that offers wide viewing angles.

It achieves this by putting the processor’s cores through a series of intensive workloads. In doing so, producing a single-core score and multi-core score. The Lenovo Flex 3 Chromebook presents itself as a budget-friendly 2-in-1, and it fulfills that promise with a carry-friendly convertible design and impressive port selection. While its plastic construction and raw performance are no match for more expensive laptops, it's still a satisfying portable companion for casual users at a price that's hard to beat. Hence, if you are a student or need a laptop for carrying out simple computing workloads, the Lenovo Chromebook Flex 3 is worth considering.Meanwhile, wireless connections include 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.2. There's no support for the latest Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) wireless standard. Nevertheless, simple Android games should run smoothly on the laptop. For example, while playing World of Tanks Blitz (2018), the laptop delivered an impressive 60 fps (frame per second). In that regard, Lenovo released the Chromebook Flex 3 in 2020. This Chromebook isn’t like most Chromebooks out there – it is a 2-in-1 convertible Chromebook, meaning you can use it in different forms. Nevertheless, as a 2-in-1 laptop, this Chromebook can be used in various modes and features a touchscreen display. That’s not all; the laptop offers a long battery life and an attractive design with a sturdy build. Battery:These systems do not support batteries that are not genuine Lenovo-made or authorized. Systems will continue to boot, but may not charge unauthorized batteries. Attention: Lenovo has no responsibility for the performance or safety of unauthorized batteries, and provides no warranties for failures or damage arising out of their use. Battery life (and recharge times) will vary based on many factors, including system settings and usage.

Alongside the Celeron chip is 4GB of system memory and just 64GB of eMMC-style storage. All told, it’s a pretty unimpressive technical line up that represents a bottom-rung Intel-powered solution. Were this a Windows laptop or convertible, that would be enough to have us running for the hills. However, the Chrome OS environment is both less demanding and also cloud-centric. So, outright performance and local storage are not as critical. In terms of speed, the CPU has a standard frequency of 2.0 GHz. Performance-wise, this processor is a low-end processor mostly found in Android-based tablets and is only capable of handling basic computing operations. The Lenovo Chromebook Flex 3 is a 2-in-1 Chromebook that is best suited for performing basic productivity tasks. Basically, this laptop offers a low-end processor and limited memory. The Flex 3's battery life is adequate. It lasted for a bit more than 10 hours in our video rundown test, which involves playing a locally stored video file with Wi-Fi turned off. That should get you through a day of occasional browsing, but it's on the low end for a modern Chromebook. A Slate of Strengths...and One Key Weakness Speaking of which, the Lenovo Chromebook Flex 3 should be able to run about 8 Chrome tabs simultaneously without lagging too much. However, when transitioning between the tabs, the laptop’s performance might slow down.If the sheer quality of the Flex 3 is surprising, its core specifications are less so. Processing power comes from an Intel Celeron N4020 CPU. That’s a dual-core chip derived from Intel’s low-power and low-cost Atom line of processors, rather than the premium high performance Core family. Moving on, despite being an 11.6-inch laptop, the Lenovo Chromebook Flex 3 offers a decent amount of ports. Specifically, the right side of the Chromebook houses oneUSB 2.0 port, one USB 3.0 port, one Ethernet port, and one HDMI port. Thus, with this CPU, the Lenovo Chromebook Flex 3 won’t be able to handle demanding tasks like video editing or heavy multitasking. Nonetheless, the laptop should be able to seamlessly handle word processing, web browsing, and other simple tasks. For a better analysis of the laptop’s graphics card, I will now present its 3DMark benchmark test result. Briefly, the 3DMark test is used to evaluate the 3D graphics rendering ability of a computer. Of course, there are now numerous affordable 2-in-1 Chromebooks to choose from, including the Acer Chromebook Spin. The general theme in that class of Chromebook involves low-power processing and limited storage. The Flex 3 is no exception.

Hence, I will rate the Lenovo Chromebook Flex 3 a seven out of ten in this memory review section. Lenovo Chromebook Flex 3Storage Options and Performance Review Hence, I will be rating this Chromebook based on the storage options that it offers. Thus, I will rate the Lenovo Chromebook Flex 3 an eight out of ten in this storage review section. Lenovo Chromebook Flex 3 Graphics Card Performance Review Well, you have to read the subsequent sections below. Lenovo Chromebook Flex 3 Design, Display, Ports, and Connectivity Review In comparison, this laptop was beaten by the Acer Chromebook Spin 713, which uses an Intel UHD Graphics 620. To be more specific, this Acer Chromebook scored 5418 points on the 3DMark benchmark test. Moving on, the Lenovo Chromebook Flex 3 features an 11.6-inch display with an HD (1366 x 768 pixels)resolution. This resolution allows the display to render decent and colorful picture quality.Lenovo supports the Flex 3 Chromebook with its standard one-year consumer-laptop warranty for parts and labor. Testing the Flex 3: Average Chromebook Performance Sure. As a 2-in-1 Chromebook, the Lenovo Chromebook Flex 3 features a touchscreen display. My Final Thoughts However, surrounding this laptop’s display are bulky bezels. Honestly, these massive bezels are a turn-off for displays as they, most time, cause distraction during video streaming sessions. Thankfully, apart from their local storage, Chromebooks usually come with 15 GB of Google Drive cloud storage. As excepted, the Lenovo Chromebook Flex 3 isn’t an exception. Lenovo's Flex 3 doesn't deviate from this trend but it does introduce a new Intel CPU, the N100. The first of the silicon giant's N-series processors we've had a chance to test, it differs from Intel's Core series by ditching the multithreaded Performance cores (P-cores) and having only single-thread Efficient cores (E-cores). The N100 has four cores, reducing power draw to squeeze longer battery life out of the lightweight laptops for which it's designed. In other words, it's just about perfect for a Chromebook.
