Mixed corn is great as a treat for your birds, often given in the afternoon, and we have a few different brands you can choose from. For the first few nights, you will need to put them into their house. They will huddle up in a group to keep warm. The Quail Grower can be omitted and Superstarter fed for longer but the layer/breeder pellets must be fed for at least five days before eggs are eaten. The Lysine and Methionine in this feed are from natural sources – synthetic amino acids are not used in this feed. A breeder ration with fish oil suitable for game birds and domestic poultry. Contains extra energy and vitamins to maximise the production of viable quality eggs.

A 17% protein high energy layers ration with even higher levels of essential amino acids than the Country Layers. Designed for more intensive units, Specialist Layers will give an extra boost to egg production. The yolk colouring pigments are the same as the Country Layers.

If you keep bedding dry and clean well in between batches, you should be able to minimise problems. These are not to be fed for long periods of time, they are just to tide you over until you can get to the animal feeds store to get proper feed. It is possible to use artificial light to bring them in to lay; however, I do not recommend this unless you are really confident that your pullets have fully matured because they will stop growing when they start to lay. If they aren’t fully mature, they will lay smaller eggs. Although panel heaters come in different sizes, a second one may be required if hatching operations expand more than anticipated.

Offer them some treats. Once they are a few weeks old, you can start offering them some treats, such as mealworms, cooked vegetables, or fruit. Just be sure to give them treats in moderation, as too much can upset their stomachs. Can be fed with herbal tinctures for an all natural approach to managing the bird through periods of stress. Please note that Superstarter crumbs contain Avatec to help prevent coccidiosis and this medication should be withdrawn at least 5 days before the eggs are taken or the birds are slaughtered for human consumption. A ceramic heat lamp is made of porcelain and doesn’t give off any light. They are more expensive but can last for about five years. Fine crumbs for feeding up to 4 weeks of age. Turkey Starter crumbs contain a coccidiostat to help prevent disease. IngrediCountry Layers pellets and meal provide a complete feed for free range laying birds. Traditional quality ingredients are used to make a 3mm pellet or a coarsely ground meal. Calcium is added to provide strong shells, together with all the necessary minerals and vitamins for a healthy bird.

The Lysine and Methionine in this feed are from natural sources - synthetic amino acids are not used in this feed. Composition Smallholder Range feeds are made from natural ingredients which can result in the feed changing colour slightly through the seasons. Following on from Micro Pellets, Grower Mini Pellets are particularly suitable for pheasants and partridges Keep an eye on heat levels if the outside temperature is exceptionally high, remembering that things will cool down considerably at night. For a small hatch, a quiet indoors room will probably be the best bet. Ideally, this should be where the temperature is reasonably constant, without lots of comings and goings to cause fluctuations.A Gingernut Ranger drinking water from the Omlet feeder that's attached to the Eglu Eglu Classic Run With its abundance of feathers, the large fowl Orpingtons fill their show pens and are a sight to behold. The bantams – a miniature version of this magnificent breed – are still relatively big birds and equally eye-catching and impressive.

A traditional heat lamp, or ‘hover’ as it’s sometimes called in the US, consists of a powerful bulb with a metal shade suspended from a chain. Heat is increased by lowering the lamp and decreased by raising it. To give an attractive yolk colour, pigments extracted from marigold petals are added together with another compound which occurs naturally in the skins of oranges. Keep their food and water clean. It is important to keep their food and water clean to prevent the spread of disease. Wash their feeders and waterers regularly with warm, soapy water. A non medicated pellet for all fattening poultry. This product is designed with the correct energy to protein ratio to give the perfect finish. Please ensure that you obtain and retain a proof of posting when you return your goods. This is to protect you in the event that your goods are lost in transit. If mixed corn or wheat is to be fed then it should be in small quantities in the afternoon. Too much will reduce the bird's appetite for the layers pellets and they may not get enough protein, minerals and vitamins. Cooked rice. This is really a last resort as it is mostly starch with no where near enough protein. Superstarter crumbs are a 27% protein superfine crumb which is ideal for young quail. They contain fish meal to give the best quality protein and Avatec to help prevent coccidiosis. Don’t be tempted to switch to layers pellets too soon since the high calcium levels can cause kidney damage (urolithiasis) and leg problems in growing pullets. You can change to layers pellets at 19 weeks, but I prefer to wait a little longer, especially if my pullets are summer-hatched and won’t start laying until the following spring. A non medicated pellet for turkeys and other fattening poultry. Designed with the correct energy to protein ratio to give turkeys the perfect finish.
